| Fair Price? I'm looking at a 2000 RC51 with 8k on the od. The guys asking $5k and it's in good shape, it's going to need tires in about 3k and I'd do the chain and sprockets, fluids and tune up just for my own self confidence. So what do you think, fair price? |

| Re: Fair Price? Seems to be a pretty fair price based on what they go for on Ebay. Thats some very low miles, I probably wouldn't believe it unless the bike looks ultra clean. |

| Re: Fair Price? Thanks guys, it sounds like this is a reasonable price for this bike. The next question is about if this might be too much bike for me.
I'm 5'10" 148, I was in the market for a 600 and was looking in the 5k-6k range. I've always loved the RC51 so when this came up I was interested. My background with M/C is that I've ridden dirt bikes all my life (I'm 44). I've had a couple of street bikes, in the 80's an RZ350 and a FZR400. I've raced open wheel cars for over 20 years. I want to use the bike for light street use and track days, I will NOT be racing. I want to enjoy the bike and not fear it, so should I stick the 600 or go for the RC51? |

| Re: Fair Price? RC51. V-twins seem, to me, to be a little more forgiving while your getting used to them. The best analogy is the difference between 2 stroke and 4 stroke dirt bikes (v-twin being the 4 stroke). Seems like a great price to me. Go for it. You will never be the same. |

You will never be the same. | I was kinda thinking much the same thing. When looking at the stats for the bikes that I was considering, (R6/GSXR600/CRR 600RR/SV650) the torque of the RC51 was about 20-25ftlbs higher while the hp (SV excepted) was only 5-8hp higher. I was at first a little concerned that the torque was going to be too much but then I thought maybe with the added torque the bike would actually be easier to ride. Is this sound thinking or am I way off base? |

| Re: Fair Price? Kinda the way I figured it. Really, you just need to find a thread of justification to get the cool one. |

I'm originally from SoCal and there were so many great back roads to ride on. Around Austin there are some good roads but they can be pretty busy.
BTW if anyone out there is lookin' to unload an RC and want's some really high end mountain downhill or road bike (bicyle) stuff in trade lets talk. |

| Re: Fair Price? Sounds good. I'm still trying to heal from a broken leg, but will be ready soon. Also, the bike is getting a new paint job. |
