RC51 question

Why is the MSRP of the RC51 still higher than that of a CBR1000RR?

Re: RC51 question

Hmm. I don't think economies of scale effects price negatively at the end of the product life cycle.

Re: RC51 question

Keep the sales numbers low so you can show that it's not worth continuing to bring to market. Remove that model from the lineup to make room for a different bike.

Sure if I am building 100 RRs a day I keep the line running full tilt. Also volume pricing from vendors. While your tooling costs are not going up that is only part of the cost (significant though it is).

Re: RC51 question

I'd be willing to bet that being a twin (2 heads, 4 cams), having gear driven cams (additional cost) and just generally being an engine built like a brick $hit house alone makes it worth more. The RC IMHO, is just way overbuilt as a stock machine when compared to the 1000RR.

Why are lamb chops more expensive than pork chops? People who eat lamb chops think they are more sophisticated. People who ride RC51s think they are more sophisticated.
Therefore people who ride RC51s eat lamb chops.

ok I'm having lamb chops for dinner tonight, I don't own an RC51 and I am definetly not more sophisticated than any other joe schmoe. so I guess my question is, where the hell is my RC51?

That was not a silly comment I did. It was being very serious.
