Clutch question

Anybody know what would make my clutch act up after I ride, stop, & start it back up? It's totally fades and won't work until I bleed the slave cylinder. I neve see any air in the line, but it starts to work fine after that. I have a Brembo master cylinder and braided lines.Everything else is stock (I think). One guy suggested that the lines may be conducting too much heat and overheating the fluid. What y'all think?

Re: Clutch question

Either you are not getting all the air out or you have a bad crush washer. If you have taken the line off and reused the crush washers (especially more than once) it is likely the second.

Re: Clutch question

Thanks for the advice i'll replace the washers. Couldn't hurt right? Plus, it gives me something to do.

I'd also take a look at how old your fluid is. Brake fluid (that you use for your clutch) is Hydroscopic, and attracts moisture. If it's old fluid, it may be contaminated and fresh fluid, (dry=new) might solve the problem.

Air in the system sounds as if it's the problem, though, based on what you're saying.

If it was due to "overheating", you'd have to have an extensive amount of heat in the line, and/or a sh*t load of moisture to cause a fade-type situation.

The feedback pressure from a clutch isn't that critical or harsh to get that complicated.

Replace the fluid and see what happens. Bleed it good too. Nice and sloooooow.............

Re: Clutch question

You may have a bad "O-ring" on the slave cylinder piston. Hard to see when it leaks into the C/S sprocket area.
