| 2003 RC-51 pics Hey everyone! I finally finished putting in a new Thorsten carbon air box, Turn One carbon snorkel and put together my one off Akrapovic hex system. I went out this morning to what we call the "summit" and the "loop" with some of the people I ride with and wow the RC feels like a new bike and I was finally able to give my buddy's 06 gixxer 1000 a run for its money! Next month I will be getting the heads ported with new pistons and maybe a new cam. My goal is to try to get from 145-150hp and get the weight down as much as possible. Well Ill post up the numbers from tuesday when I get it tuned and here is some pics finally.
Thanks for everyones support!

| Re: 2003 RC-51 pics Bring it by and we can grind some of that chrome off. Should drop a pound or two.
J/K The bike looks real nice. Don't talk to much about the port/polish job or Sheep will be tearing his down again to make it "faster". |

| Re: 2003 RC-51 pics Yeah, other than the chromed stuff, it looks very nice.
Chrome makes you slower. It's one of the laws of physics. Besides it might blind you at the most inconvenient moment... |

Nope this winter is MAYBE a Ohlins rear and rims. The rest of improvement will be in Woolware. Though I might repaint it also.

| Re: 2003 RC-51 pics :SEMUS: Thanks for the offer of grinding off the chome but it wont help its fully polished by me, there is no chrome at all on the bike, so with all the coating off and polished its actaully lighter.
I actually made an appointment for next week to get the heads ported and put in the new pistons. its gonna run about $2500 but will be well worth the $.
Thanks for the complements on the pipes it definetly was not easy puting that system togther. Im trying to get to DynoJet today to get the map done but they have 2 Graves Yamaha's there till 3pm. So when Im done Ill post up the #'s. |

Wow that actually doesn't look too bad. A guy here in town had thought about doing that same thing but we just couldn't picture what it would look like. So Thanks, I'll be sure to pass it along. |

I have had a few racers with polished frames and it's almost worth the effort!
Whoever came up with painting aluminum black needs to ride a black bike with a cracked frame for a couple of laps . . .

| Re: 2003 RC-51 pics :kelly: Yes the exhaust is a one off system that I put together and it came out damn good.
:abtec: Yeah I love the frame polished and just about everyone that ive ever met or raced with agrees and wants me to help them polish their frame. It took about 2.5 days to do the wheels, swingarm, clutch cover, and frame. |

| Re: 2003 RC-51 pics That exhaust is outstanding. Makes me wish I had tried that (who am I kidding, not with three kids. I barely had time to adjust my chain much less build a one off exhaust) before going to my Arata.
Hey. I can't find anything about Turn One and their products. Is there a webpage? Thanks |

| Re: 2003 RC-51 pics ::CRASH:: That is the one thing about Turn One is that they do not have a site, but if you email him Im sure he can put something together to show you what he has.

| Re: 2003 RC-51 pics Ok so I just got back from NRP, they do all my tuning for the RC. They did a custom map for me and we ended up with 130hp at the wheel, considering the temps and altitude we have in Las Vegas those number are great and thats without any simulated ram air. Im going to be taking the heads in next week to get them ported, put the new pistons in and get some adj cam gears. My motor guy said I should see 12hp or more when we are done. So thats a true 142hp at the wheel. After that I just need to get the weight arond 365 and ill be good |
