| RC 51 not starting Alright heres the deal, I got off my bike and as I was takeing off my helmet and jacket, it fell on the right side. I picked it up and no damage was done (thank God) but when I started riding it again it only went about a quater mile before it putted out. Gas tank was completey full. Haven't been able to start it since. Fuses are all good. sensor isn't sticking. Anyone got any ideas for me?

| Re: RC 51 not starting Very strange.
I'm assuming the engine was of when it fell over... if not, maybe you pumped some fuel into somewhere it shouldn't be (doubtful but possible).
Check to make sure all of the electrical and fuel connections are still good. Maybe the fall/shock shook something loose and it came apart later ... or a wire moved and chafed. Also look at the handlebar switch to make sure it is OK ... and the tip-over sensor.
Just some things to start with. Maybe the bump will catch the eye of someone who has seen this before. Good luck. |

| Re: RC 51 not starting No fault codes, the engine was off when it fell over, all the conections seem to be good. the fuel pump won't sound when i turn the key to on. i unpluged the tip sensor, but no luck. I have no idea what it could be, anything else i could check? |

| Re: RC 51 not starting Flip the handle bar on/off switch a couple times, and make sure it is on (I know, an easyone, but sometimes can get you ... especially if you never use it, like me)
I could be wrong, but I think there needs to be continuity through the tip sensor, meaning that just disconnecting it will keep the bike from running. If you have a volt meter, check for continuity on the tip sensor, in both an upright and tipped orientation.
I thought I saw a comment a while back that some of the Hondas are very sensitive to the tip sensor location, and that a bent bracket could catch you out. You'd have to search for that one if no one volunteers. It was on one of the CBR varieties, so I didn't pay attention.
If the fuel pump doesn't sound off, and you get power to the lights, then the bike thinks that a kill switch is off ... or the maybe the fuel pump got damaged, but that is unlikely too. |

Did it fall on the clutch side? The clutch switch is a convoluted mess and it has to be in circuit or it will cause exactly the symptoms you describe. I had to open the harness and find the junction point where the wire from the clutch switch was soldered to 5 other different colored wires and begin tracing from there. I eventually reconnected all of the "required" bits and soldered them all together effectively bypassing the clutch switch, but what a pain in the ass . . . |

Then that will be the prob as long as it turns over and does not start. |
