| RC51 Powered Off-Road Car Hello to all,
I am brand new here looking for info on the RC51 engine I am using in my car, yes car. I am about to do the wiring and was wondering if I can get away with not using the stock ignition switch. If so, how do I go about it? I am also curious about any of the engine management systems available for the RC51 (Dyno Jet etc..) Is there anything else I need to know about the wiring to get this thing to run? Here are some pictures of the car.
Thanks for any help,

| Re: RC51 Powered Off-Road Car Yes I work at Baja Designs. Thanks for the compliments. The rear end is something I came up with using part of the Jeffco reverse unit.
Thanks,

| Re: RC51 Powered Off-Road Car So does anyone know about the OE ignition switch?
No transponders or anything special that I know of, not on the US models..

Just curious...why the RC motor? Torque? |

| Re: RC51 Powered Off-Road Car I will be using this car in Baja and the High Desert so I wanted an engine that would have torque but still rev. I think it will have better drivability in the technical terrain than an inline engine. I also love the way the engine sounds and makes power.

I was told that if you don't use the stock ignition switch the computer goes into some sort of anti theft mode. Is this true? |

| Re: RC51 Powered Off-Road Car I do not believe so? I think what you are speaking of is true for the UK models. That anti-theft mode is disabling the fuel system and some other bits I believe.

OTOH, is there a reason you don't want to use the bike ignition key in the car? I'm assuming you need a switch of some kind ... where you can have some security that people aren't playing with it while you are gone.
Good luck with the project. I have an acquaintance here who wants to put an RC motor in a buggy, so I'm interested in how it turns out. |

| Re: RC51 Powered Off-Road Car I might just use the whole switch as you stated. :: Index - is where I will be updating the progress on the buggy. There are alot of guys building cars with bike engines. It is by far the best source of info for someone building a mini buggy once you weed out the BS.
Thanks again guys,
