| well i finally got around to doing the soft rev mod.....ive been at home this week as ive been helping my wife as we have had some very difficult challanges in our lives this past week.....i wont go into details....yesterday she was laying down resting and the kids were at school and our youngest was napping too, so to keep my mind off of things i got the bike out and did the mod and gave it a quick ( not a very good, but quick) cleanup...i took the bike down the road...all i can say is i cant believe that i waited this long to do this mod...its madea big difference. i watched the tach hit 7...8....9...grand and it just kept pulling as hard all the way right to 10 grand...well worth the 15 minutes it took to do...
i really gotta get that exhaust leak fixed...as that is definitely my popping as now if you fire it up you dont even have to cover the end of the pipe and you can feel air coming out around that joint right off the rear cylinder..and you can see the milky brown color on the pipe where it is leaking. |

| Re: well i finally got around So with your wife and kid napping you decided to fire up the RC?
Just kidding. I can't even imagine running mine without the mod in place. Things are bad enough when it signs off just past 10K . . . |

| Re: well i finally got around still got stock pipes so it isnt that lound and i didnt rev it....just fired it up and made sure everything was still working....i just cant get over how simple and effective this mod is....someday i hope to find out the real truth as to why they even put this on the bikes to begin with...
i want to pull the bike in the basement over winter so i can do a few things to it...i want to pull all the plastics off and clean everything and make sure all the wires are good and all connectors have dielectric grease in them...and i am probably gonna do the PAIR mod while im at it and try to get some pipes and maybe go up 2 teeth in the rear or at least 1... |

| Re: well i finally got around Congrats on doing the mod. I've been debating whether or not to do it. I went for a ride the other day and it was the first time since my wreck that I had felt comfortable with the bike. I was playing around and really noticed the power drain in the upper ranges where the RC is said to have it's peek. From 8k on it was a drain almost.
Will the mod make that big of a difference? I just can't seem to find the happy place on the RC. Most of it's mental because I hate riding on the street, but track time is out of the question for a little while longer and I want to have this thing ready to go when I get back on track. |

| Re: well i finally got around Did you do it like it's posted on Rogue? Did you make your own wiring or order the kit? |

| Re: well i finally got around i did it just lik the rogue site butr i think it was RC51MIKE from here that graciously sent me the connectors and the wire and the splice. i took my time and crimped and soldered the pin conncetor on the wire
and them it took all of about 15 minutes to do the mod....just unplug the black and gray plugs from the ecu and i fished the wire thru the backside of the plug and plugged it onto the correct prong in the ecu them snapped the plug back on to the ecu and then attached the other end of the wire to the black and white wire on the other plug and snapped it back on...done...
it is alot eaiser to do if you just take the tail off and get the ecu where you can get your fingers in there...i pulled the tape back on the wire loom about an extra 1/4" to give me a little more wire to work with..be careful with the wires though..they are very thin gauge and you will rip them right out of the plug if you get to aggressive with them.
but my bikes sweet spot has always been right about 6200, thats when i really start feeling the pull...and it used to die off around 8500 to 9200 ( at least thats where it seemed to stop pullin as hard) now it pulls like a banshee all the way right to 10K, but i did hit the hard rev limiter once..you WILL KNOW IT! lol
but like i said intially, i cant believe i waited to do this mod....at 9000 rpm it still pulls like its at 7k and just keeps pulling...ive only played with it once to see that the mod worked cuz its startin to get cold here in michigan and i dont feel comfortable pushing it but before i go any further with mods i gotta fix my exhuast leak
over winter im going to pull the plastics off the bike and im gonna get rid of the PAIR system and i want to maybe get an aftermarket air box and snorkel and a PCiiiR USB and some pipes and maybe go up 1 or 2 on the rear sprocket
then im gonna start saving for an ohlins rear shock and i think i will either save for and buy ohlins forks or send my stockers into dan kyle ( probably the latter) and get them worked over |
