Removing SP1 stem from lower clamp

A couple of us are working on a project of putting the SP1 front end on our 919s and can't seem to get the stem out of the SP1 clamp (to swap stems or make it fit correctly).
Is the stem pressed in or threaded in? One of the guys has used a 20 ton press and a torch with no luck.
Any advice would be most helpful!
Thank you,
Mike
