decent pipe comparison
seems like everything is a trade off though, unless you throw down the big bucks |

They both made the bike sound good though. |

For me, the TBR slip-ons were the best option. Why: low cost ($200 for the pair with less than 100 miles on them, like new), sound (good but not too loud), power (loses high end but gains in midrange where I use it most), quality (adequate for a road going bike that will be dirty anyway ... these were pretty good by TBR standards)
See, still a trade off, and many will look for things that weren't important to me. |

sounds incredible
not cheap like 1200 bucks but with a pc3 and the dan kyle map it dynoed at 130 hp
they require the removal of the rear pegs though |

| Re: what's the best slip on Pipes for RC51's? Sato offers the biggest performance gains, by far. IN any configuartion you can get them you will see significant midrange gains. You'll think you are riding another motorcycle. |

| Re: what's the best slip on Pipes for RC51's? I have heard good things about different slipons and bad things about different slipons.. Personally, I believe that every bike is different and it is a matter of your own preference and your bikes preference.. One bike might run great with Jardine and the other might run better with Sato.. I run Two Brothers Titanium High Mount Slipons and my bike has never sounded better and I feel the slight power difference.. I have also had Jardine and did not feel to much of a difference or hear to much of a sound difference.. I bought the tits because of the weight difference and the price.. Try and find a new or newer pair of cans with low use.. No matter what you choose or what you end up getting, any aftermarket slipons will give your bike a more true V Twin sound.. GOOD LUCK!! |

| Re: what's the best slip on Pipes for RC51's? Here's one that no one mentioned at all yet that I went with this past summer, Scorpion!! I went to a professional that's been riding sport bikes for over 20yrs and he recommended them over Sato, and yoshis'. Its really what you are looking for though. I could tell a major difference with my slip ons with the take off speed and the sound is not a high pitch like yosh but more so like satos just a touch deeper. |

| Re: what's the best slip on Pipes for RC51's? I'm a 954RR owner with a micron. Ilike the deep sound. Maybe it'd be the same for the RC. I've read many posts praising the Sato cans.
I'm looking to trade for an 05 RC51 but my local dealer doesn't have one on the floor. They can get one from the warehouse but the price just seems high. Where can i find accurate invoice info for an RC? The dealer is still talking 11k. I know there are 05 models out there bc the RC just isn't as popular with the masses. seems like they'd want to move em out. |

| Re: what's the best slip on Pipes for RC51's? Definitely check the ROGUE RC51 website for info,
For what its worth, I have been very happy with the midrange bump that I
got using the Yosh RS3 Race pipe mated to the PC3USB Sato low mount map.
Unless you have inordinate ammounts of money to spend get yourself
something like a Yosh (Moto X Outlet sells them in Stainless for about $470)
with a Dan Kyle supplied PC3 USB and use your savings towards upgrading
the suspension. You're not going to pick up top end dramatically with aftermarket pipes. |

| Re: what's the best slip on Pipes for RC51's? i have an 02 rc with erion racing pipes and i think they sound the best by far, even over sato's. but sato definatley is the best performance pipe, you just have to ask yourself is the extra 1hp that your going to get from the sato's over everything else worth the extra $700-$800? |

| Re: what's the best slip on Pipes for RC51's? I had Erions on my 02 RC and they did sound very nice! I don't think they make them anymore...
Now I am running Sato Banzai Titaniums on my 04...they compliment the lines of the bike really well, they sound mean and loud!
I am thinking of selling them and going with Sato Ti low mounts for something different...

| Re: what's the best slip on Pipes for RC51's? I just removed my Leo Vince and installed a Moriwaki high mount on my 06.
The Moriwaki's have a much deeper tone to them and the high mounts look much better. I had to remove my passanger pegs and rear turn signals.
I installed a Clear Alternatives LED tail light that has the turn signals built in, much cleaner looking. |

| Re: what's the best slip on Pipes for RC51's? My response to almost the same question over at Speedzilla....:
I'm not so sure there's a correct answer to your question, regarding the BEST pipes, HOWEVER, this is what I will suggest:
Go to the Power Commander site. Look at the available MAPS for specific brands of pipes. Go to RC51.org and look at those MAPS. Take a tally of the different brands of pipes. I'd select from that list...
Here's my take: If you buy pipes that MAPS were already made for, you can't go wrong. There's off brands that you may not see, chances are, if they were worth the time to make a MAP for, you'd see them on this list of already produced MAPS.
Some pipes may have been produced AFTER the height of the RC51 craze, but pretty much, what you see on those MAP lists, is what is pretty much worth using.
Sato, Yosh, Jardine, etc...are all good pipes. The fact that Sato made more HPs then anyone means dick if you only ride on the street, or your mods and bike aren't EXACTLY like the bike that those high numbers were obtained off of. Despite all that, the HP #'s aren't that different, when all the cards are laid on the table, at the end of the day. Maybe a 2-4 hp difference. If you're a full blown racer, then it matters. Street and trackdays only: Hardly.
Certain brands, like Sato via Dan Kyle, have readily available parts for repairs or service. Certain brands are easier to get parts for then others, but as for WHAT brand is best.....it's all primarily a matter of choice or preference. Some have an obvious better quality, just by construction alone.
Do the math.... Brand XYZ for $400 a set is exactly that: A $400 set of pipes. You get what you pay for. Generic stainless midpipes and aluminum cans. As you add Ti parts, the price goes up. As you add more R&D to the product, the price goes up. It all depends on what you want them for.....
I run Yoshimura RS3-Race baffled pipes (not Zyclones) with the free mods, a PCIIIUSB, with the Sato Low MAP and the Accelerator Pump feature enabled. |
