| Power (or lack of) Commander Question Oh - the wonderful state of Maryland. I finally got around to taking my 03' RC51 in for Inspection and they (as usual) went out of their way to fail me for every possible reason.
In any event, I won't whine - I'll just pull a wheelie when I leave after taking it back in for re-inspection.
That's not why I'm posting...
I had to install lights over the license plate because the fender eliminator kit does not cast any light on the license plate and that's a problem in Maryland.
So, I found some nice little lights and installed them. In the process of installing them I blew a fuse and replaced the fuse.
Now, my bike won't start. I pulled out the service guide and found that the blinking FI lights show that my air intake sensor is not functioning properly. But that's not the reason she won't start, the sensor is just not plugged in anywhere and I can't figure out where it's supposed to be plugged in. I checked the wire colors to identufy it. It's buried in the wires on the left side of the headlight cover and the plug is gray in color and has two wires going into it...where does it get connected? I think it's actually been this way since I bought the bike.
Now - about my Power Commander. After pulling my hair out for a few hours checking wires over the weekend it dawned on me last night driving home that the problem may be the power commander. The bike turns over, but won't start.
I checked the power commander after turning on the ignition and none of the lights on the power commander come on. I guess I'll have to check the wires to the power commander and see what's up with that.
What lights should display on the power commander when you turn the ignition on???
thanks in advance.
Jeff

| Re: Power (or lack of) Commander Question it turned out to be a faulty ground wire as a result of re-arranging some wire under the seat to make thing a little more orderl.y - my fault of course... strange part is that lights installed over license plate works properly even though they were connected to the same "supposed" grounding point. In any event - all is well and I just slapped a 46 tooth sprocket on the back with a 15 up front - it's now a real wheelie king...

DO NOT use a frame ground for your power commander. Ground it to the neg side of the battery........ |

| Re: Power (or lack of) Commander Question I don't know if you figured it out yet or not, but the it sounds like your map sensor is the plug that is disconnected. It is located on top of the snorkel just underneath the windscreen. It should say Denso on it. If that isn't it than it is your pair valve plug which means you probably have the pair mod and that plug isn't needed anymore. Hope this helps!
