Slight wobble on my bike.

Guy dropped off my rc51 today and after taking it for another spin i noticed that under 10-15 miles per hour the front end seemed a bit wobbly.

Not a fast shake or anything but i could feel the front go side to side a bit. Soon as I throttled up there was no problems when going faster and no sign of any shaking or drifting.

This bike sat for two years in a garage. I assume the rc51's don't wobble like that and either the front tire has a flat spot (not that I can see one) or its not balanced or something else is wrong with the front end.

What do I start with?

They did drop the bike off using a bike trailer and had the front end tied down with straps. Only Reason I mention that is my test ride on it a few days ago I didn't notice that wobble but its possible I didn't maintain 10-15 miles/hr either.

Re: Slight wobble on my bike.

Maybe flat spot or missing wheel weights. Check the wheel bearings also.

Check for cupping on the front tire.

Sounds like a tire issue. I don't think you are going to feel the loss of wheel weights under 15mph.

Re: Slight wobble on my bike.

Thats what I get for taking a spin before really going over the bike. Just finished up the 4k mile tune up and of course when i got to the tires, front tire pressure was 10 lbs and rear was 15 lbs. I smacked myself a few times for just taking for granted that the guy before me took care of the bike like I would have. PSI is back to 36/42 where it should be and no more wobble. I guess sitting inside a garage on concrete for two years is the reasoning. I used to take the battery out of my bike each winter and get the tires off the ground.

I must say its been a few years that i worked on my own bike, but was nice to take the time and do what was needed. I used to always be very very babying of my bikes in cleaning and keeping them in tip top shape.

Yea with 10/15 in the tires it might wobble a little!

Enjoy the bike. I love the RC.

Re: Slight wobble on my bike.

Getting used to the power curve. It's a bit different to have torque at low rpms like that! I just came back from riding for a few hours. Was like 63 and sunny here in Jersey, perfect riding weather!

Had my local bike shop do my inspection for me so I'm good for 2 years.

I still like the riding postion of the RC, no problems at all except I seem to slip forward in the seat a bit compared to being further back where I want to be. I am gonna get a corbin front seat and hopefully that will let me stay where I want to with better traction.

From 2 days of riding I notice the RC corners better then my old 900rr. Not sure if I'm remembering right but the RC seems to do very well on turns. Also the front wheel stays down where I want it. I remember my first week swapping from a 600 to the 900 I had lots of trouble keeping the wheel down when i rpm's up. But the Rc must either be heavier or the power band is different where I can snap up and the front stays down just where I like it.

Fast little sucker..... I hate to think how fast a 954 or the new 1000's are!

From my first impressions, I can see I will always own this RC or an RC51. Even if I grab a 2nd bike, the RC stays in my toy box, I like it that much!

Good to hear you like the bike! The RC feels very stable in the corners to me. I love the sound also.

I agree, it is such a fun bike to ride with a great power curve.
