Painting an RC51 '01 frame

Hi guys!

I'm about to paint some aluminum parts of my VTR SP1 (RC51 '01) to mate black. The bike is being dismantled as we speak and my plan is to paint the frame, swingarm and upper triple clamp to mate black. It should be better looking and easier to maintain a clean look. Also, I plan to clean&lubricate all parts that I couldn't reach otherwise.

However, I've not yet decided should I do a regular paint job or should I powder coat it. Do you guys have some experience on this matter?

I would like to achieve the mate black look that newer RC51 have...

Thanks!

BTW, I usually film my rides, by using a tank cam mount and a miniDV camera...

Take a look:

Re: Painting an RC51 '01 frame

I had my frame, swingarm, subframe, engine cases, wheels and some other parts powdercoated. Powdercoating is more durable than paint and in most cases, will not chip. If your bike will be a show bike only, then paint it. If you plan on riding it anytime, then powdercoat it!

I did my parts (except the wheels) in the satin black mini-tex and Harley black wrinkle coating. Wheels were done in Gloss black with clear. It all looks awesome. Look at my thead (titled: 'Pics of my MotoGP restyled Fireblade) to see how the parts turned out.

My ideal ride would be an 04 Nicky Hayden edition RC51, that in my eyes is the closest thing to a "perfect" bike
