RC 51 Final drive ratio

I recently purchased an 02 RC. The bike has had the drive sprockets changed to a higher final drive ratio, which of course causes speedo error. The question 1: is there anyway to correct the speedo?
question 2: I also have an 00 RC that my son is taking from the US to Canada. Is there a way to convert the speedo display from Miles to Kilometers.

Re: RC 51 Final drive ratio

There are a couple speedo recalibrators available. The yellow box and another. Do a quick search and you'll find the info.

On my 2000, the stock gearing was already off by 10% on the speedo, the revised gearing took it to 14%. So you really need to recalibrate anyway (I haven't yet).

The speedo recalibrators can do the conversion for you (just set it up that way and remember that it is different), but I also think there is a way to hold down buttons when you key on/off or something to get it to switch. A search of the archives here, or over at ROGUE RC51 Owners Group of United Enthusiasts should net you an answer.

Enjoy the bikes.

Hold down the adj button with the total mileage showing on the ODO. That should do it. I brought mine from germany and had to familiarize myself.

Re: RC 51 Final drive ratio

Get a Speedo Healer. It will take care of the speedometer problem and your odometer. You will be racking up miles faster with the changed gearing also.
