What do you have done? One you do the pipes and a PC-III you have to go internal to the motor with cams, cylinder bore and the like. Not usually worth the cost on a bike. Could go power adder, turbo or something. |

145hp is quite strong hey. Your bike probably eat the I4's? Mine is stock 122hp and pulls out of '01 R1 quite convincingly.
Go for a gas flow. I heard you get 2-5hp more. |

| Re: i WANT more POWER any suggesions What he said, 145 is really strong unless you are on a 1098(so they say). Remember that our problem is that you can only cram so much air into those 2 pots and that is hampered by them big pistons not being able to spin the revs I4's can. So the reality is you are getting to the point where it is going to get REALLY expensive adding horses, adding some fancy parts and then stand the chance of seeing all your hard work grenade itself. The alternative is to just go out and get yourself a K7..... or learn to love the torque, which in the end is what twins are all about.
or it until it blows!!! |

What MAP are you running?
Who made it?
What cams are you using?
What did you pay for the cams?
Where did you buy them from?
Were the silencing gears left off the cams on re-install?
Are your heads decked? (Careful on that answer)
Are you running a factory airbox?
If so, who's?
Is your PAIR system removed?
Are you using aftermarket pistons?
Which ones?
What compression?
Any cylinder boring?
What head work has been done?
Did you do the soft rev mod?
What gearing?
Who dyno'd it?
With or without forced air?
Did they seem like they'd been drinking at all that day?
Did the room smell like burned leaves?
Were they slurring their words?
Nothing but cams, Yoshimura Exhaust, and a PCIII........ and 145 hps?
Yet HERE, you ask the forum for Horsepower mods.......??? new guy v-twin crazy
How mant times do I have to tell you kids NOT to drink the bong water?

| Re: i WANT more POWER any suggesions That 145hp is possible with the motor work but Id be concerned about the cooling with those side mounts. Ive seen some dyno comparisons on the same bike with the same mods just different altitudes and some very different numbers. Screw all the HP (unless you want to blow the motor) take all that money you spending on motor work and make that thing as light as possible, that is when you will really notice some differences. |

| Re: i WANT more POWER any suggesions it could be possible, depending on the dyno to put out those numbers i would think. what would of been a better post would of been if he did a pre add ons run and a post. his could of been reading 130 on the dyno he was using on a stock motor. then again i could be way off also. |

Everyone that posts on Zilla, here, or RC51.org would ALL have 145 HPs if bolting on a few parts made it that simple. Exhaust, PC, cams and even an airbox, gets you into the 130s... RC51s with 135-138+ HPs, in my experience, are a rarity. There's just better, faster, more powerful bikes out there for the money, than it takes to make a heavy bike like the RC51 push those numbers.
Most who claim they have it, unfortunately, can never prove it more then running their mouth, and those that do have it aren't interested in bragging about it on some forum.
Once higher compression pistons are installed, with stronger than stock rods and some messaging of the head is done, you'll see the 140's ranges. Even a few 150+ RC51s existed in their day. At that point, it's very costly and reliability is compromised, and you're not gonna see that kind of engine in a street trimmed bike, with some squid tooling around on it. Just not likely..
I never once read mention of any other form of Horsepower enhancement being used, like NOS, a Turbo, or a supercharger, to get the 145hp he claims he have. I'm going by what he says he has: PC, Cams and exhaust.
Exhaust, PC and cams, with no mention of a soft rev mod, pistons, rods or a few other mods is NO farkin 145 horsepower RC51..... it's common sense.
