| Re: BST CARBON WHEELS Do a search and check the "similar threads" at the bottom of the page. I know they were discussed, and some by people here, a year or so ago. Might also want to check with CTSmoto, one of the sponsors who did a group by last year.
I'm guessing there might be some improvements since the early days, but also remember that carbon fiber is a brittle material, and may not be well suited for some of the bashing they will take on public roads ... that bend and break aluminum wheels. |

| Re: BST CARBON WHEELS I have seen a lot of broken aluminum wheels over the years. Remember, BST wheels have survived tests that destroyed aluminum and magnesium wheels. If you want the ultimate in performance, they are the only way to go. If they were not safe, the racers wouldn't be using them on the race track at 160 mph plus. At the Munich Intermot show, BST representatives bounced the wheels on the floor thoughout the duration of the show to demonstrate their durability. Try that with an aluminum or magnesium wheel! | Re: BST CARBON WHEELS There's a fellow in my area with an SP1 with BST's.
They are gorgeous and light as a feather.
And they are pretty strong. Their web site shows results of many cyclic tests of various type compared to aluminum and magnesium wheels.
Pretty much all of them exceed the other wheels.
They have TUV certification, which is pretty strict. |

I noticed you have all your own stuff for changing the tires too, what's the matter? You don't want the idiot at the local shop changing tires for you?
On another note, did you get your calipers off a 600F4 or something? I've been looking around and they are the only ones that look similar to the stock RC's. They look the same but I don't know if the dimensions of the pistons and any other internal things are the same. |

I bought the NoMar tire machine "ultimate 2 package" No-Mar product: Scratch Proof Wheel Locking System, Beats Coats 220 - Safe for Carbon Fiber Wheels. so that way the only hands touching those wheels or any other bike I have will be my own! Includes a balancer and everything needed. The whole Kit is under $900 bucks and with multiple bikes wearing soft tires, It's paying for it's self in a jiffy!!!!!!!
The local Honda Stealership charges me $75 a set every time to scratch and fuk-up my wheels ($30 per tire change, a few bucks for weights, and local sales tax)
As for the calipers, Yes they are late model F4i units, front and rear. SAME calipers as the RC51 uses but only in a nice matte Black instead of the 90's theme'd, Gold color that I couldn't stand.
Here's a shot of the rear you didn't get to see: http://img258.imageshack.us/img258/2...oto0092gw5.jpg

By juicedstang999 at 2009-02-01 | Cool thanks, I was pretty sure that they were off an F4i. I've seen them on Ebay from time to time for around $40-$50, but never was willing to pull the trigger and wind up wasting money. I can't stand the gold calipers, I just don't get what they were thinking on that one.
What kind of hugger is that?
Normally I would try not to threadjack, but this thread is more than two years old, and if you have the money to spend half of what your bike costs on a set of wheels, then you really should just call and see what the warranty is instead of asking for opinions from random strangers on the internet. You might as well ask if people have had problems with Ohlins R&T forks or carbon front rotors. |
