Wire harness Mods

Does any one know of someone who does modifications to RC wiring harnesses? I am using an RC motor in an off road buggy and have no need for many of the accessories. I would like to locate the critical electronics (ECU, etc.) in a central area which would be shielded from the elements. I think all I really need as far as accessories is the tach, and engine temp readings (if the current harness set-up gives temp reading). Everything else can be eliminated (speedometer, turn signals, etc.). I would need to have several connections to run external electronics (HID lights, communications, GPS). I live in Southern California and would prefer to have the work done by someone local, but would be willing to ship my stock harness for mods to the right person.

I have read about the racing harness from Rising Sun but their web site only lists one for the SP1 (I have an SP2 motor - not sure of what the major elcetronic differences might be between the SP1 & SP2). Electronics is not my forte so I would like to have the job done right (the first time ).

Thanks

Re: Wire harness Mods

You can do a couple things.
1, you can modify it yourself by using a wire diagram available from the "articals" section of this site.
2. you can call steve at Rising sun and tell him you neen the "710" HRC Basic Racer harness.... Rising Sun Cycles
3. you can buy a fully modified harness from Thorsten at durbahn.com
Good luck, let me know if you have other questions.

So basically we can snip a wire or not plug into a socket? I was just wondering if there are some feedback circuits which will cause the computer to trip-up or give fault codes (i.e., engine will not start if it doesn't detect the gauge cluster, etc.).

dubahn.com didn't work for me but google gave me: RC51-Parts. Is this the same website you were refering to?

Thanks

Re: Wire harness Mods

Just make sure you jumper the kick stand and clutch switches so it starts. You should be able to find information on that with a quick search too. HAve fun.
