| Enlighten me Only had my RC51 a few weeks, just fitted a new filter and oil, and i notice that the pipe from the vacuum cyllinder is missing, is this something to do with this flapper mod, what else should i look for and can i do away with this vacuum tank altogether, as it would be easier to change filters in the future.Any advice would be appreciated,
Thanks

Acko | Well....not sure what a cyllinder is . Sometimes posting a picture might help with any confusion anyone may be having with what you may be asking.
That being said..........(ball busting over)
The vacuum canister you're refering to is the "storage" unit for the "flapper" diaphram that sits on the snorkel.
It sounds as if someone's done half of the flapper mod, without removing the rest of the hardware. There's the vacuum container and the solenoid on the left radiator (front) with a vacuum hose leading to the front throttle body.
If the flapper mod is done correctly, then all of that should be removed and the front throttle body vacuum port plugged. |

Acko | Well....there's 2 ways:
1.) Remove your airbox and use a rubber vacuum cap to cover the vacuum port at the base of the front throttle body.
2.) Take the vacuum hose that leads off the throttle body, where it sneaks out the left side of the bike, by the left radiator and cap the end. (some guys use screws. A wooden golf-tee works as well) Then you can cap the throttle body at the port when you get the chance, or during later work when the airbox is off.
I'm currently using the golf-tee trick, since I'm a lazy facker and spend more time working on other people's bikes, and not my own.....

| Re: Enlighten me Not a problem. If you look at the vacuum canister, the line marked "A" is the one that goes to the throttle body vacuum port. If you don't cap the port, cap this line.
"B" goes up, across the front of the frame to the solenoid.

| Re: Enlighten me I dont know if this will help you or not but this a break down and instructions for bypassing the flapper... ROGUE RC51 Flapper Valve Mod Page
It says the tube that is connected to the TB needs to be plugged.
Umm really any loose vacuum tube that if you touch while running has suction needs to be plugged.
Im a new to motorcycles though so just trying to referance something I saw in hopes that it may help you? |
