Seats

Hey I know that the RC51 is a sport bike but is there any site that offers alternative seats that prevent from sliding forward on the tank?

Re: Seats

Sargent or Corbin makes aftermarket seats that allow your arse to stick a little better and provide a little more comfort then the stock vinyl covered plastic slab....

Re: Seats

I just put on a seargent seat the other day on my RC. I can say i like the feel and comfort of it. I stay in place and its much more comfy then the stock seat.

So far my only complaint after a day or riding with it on is that i can't slide all the way back if i want too. Seams the bump line (or whatever they call it, mines is red accent) stops me from sliding all the way back if i want. Seems the seat is either slightly shorter in the back then stock or just a slightly different shape.

But unlike the stock seat that i would slip around in the seargeant does let me stay put in one spot. Just wish I could slide all the way back if i wanted too.

I might pick up a corbin just to compare it to.

Re: Seats

You'll find hte Corbin to be hard, when compared to the Sargent. I loved my Sargent seat, but agree, it won't allow quick movements or easy sliding for trackdays. I put the stock seat back on for that.... The Corbin is a better quality compared to the Sargent and will last longer, IMHO. It also cost more....

Re: Seats

Stomp grips on the tank panels works well with the stock seat.
about $39

Re: Seats

Personally, I like the stock seat because it allows me to move on the bike when railing through turns. However, the sliding bit forward can be addressed
with a bump pad on the flat vertical surface of the rear cowl. It helps make up some of the gap you would ordinarily have. Get yourself a decent set of
rearsets and you'll have a comfortable and functional seat.
The sargent and corbin imo are only good if you plan to tour..............
