are you F'n kidding me? stock filters flowing better than BMC? lmao
sorry man, but K&N filters flow worse than OEM filters bro...not bmc filters.
i have bmc race filters, as well as 98% of all 1000rr owners are running bmc race filters. there are DYNO PROVEN results of the bmc filters on speedy's site (iirc).
you got a hell of a deal on those filters man. i would deffinatley clean them before installing them. |

| Re: BMC Air filters! the problem with the race filters it that they dont filter well which is why they are a race only filter. the street filters and k&n's flow about the same and do flow better than stock |

| Re: BMC Air filters! RC51.org says that there is "no real world benefits from aftermarket air filters for the RC51" and "Flow testing on the stock filters performed by Brian Sheridan of Sheridan Racing Design proved to us that the OEM filters are more than capable of flowing more air than the engine can use."
this dyno chart shows that peak hp was down and peak torque was up 0.2lb-ft...not stunning. RC51.org BMC filter test
This is just what I've read. I have never used these filters myself. I think that this is considered a pretty good source of information in the RC51 world though. |

| Re: BMC Air filters! Yeah, ive been on RC51.org and read the same thing, but the stock ones actually cost more than the BMCs i got so I thought what the hell, Ill slap em in and see what happens. Its not like im racing this thing and need it to be perfect. Just street riding, but a little boost in performance is never a bad thing. Thanks guys for all your input. |

| Re: BMC Air filters! hey man, another little trick is to remove the metal screens on the outside of the stock filter. this allows for a bit more airflow thru the stock filters. at least on the 1k rr filters. a few guys have done this as well. |

I don't know by outside you mean the outer part of the filter, which actually the inside part of the filter, as air flows from inwards of the cylinder outwards into the air box. That screen is meant not for filtering anything but in case the filter element started falling apart that pieces of it wouldn't flow down the intake. |

| Re: BMC Air filters! I have the BMC in my Triple and it rocks, they don't give a substantial performance boost, but the washabilty factor is nice. You should never have to buy another one. |
