looking to buy a rc51

Hi all greetings from sweden.

I am looking to buy a rc51 but I dont have the chance to sit on one or testdrive one since the bike isnt that common here in sweden.

I was wondering if any of you could help me a little.

I am 184 cm tall (think that is the same as 5'9 og 6 in the US). Is that to tall for riding this bike confortable or???

another thing. I have heard that the seat on the rc51 is bad, what if any other seat are you using then?

Thanks for helping

Re: looking to buy a rc51

Height is not a problem on the RC, I am 6-2 and 225lbs. I have spent a whole day on the bike, in hard corner areas to boring freeway riding, your butt will bother you after a while, and your legs will need straightening. But for a few hours there is not a complaint. The seat is not the greatest for longer trips, but excellent for harder riding(corners). I believe that corbin makes a good seat, and there is not too much involved switching them, two bolts at the rear of the seat(lift the rear corners and the bolts are there).

Re: looking to buy a rc51

I'm 5'8" and I find the bars are very low, yet I still feel alot of wind in my chest. My short legs fit the foot position very well though. In the end, it's not a bike built for comfort. If that's what you're hoping, you'll be disappointed.

Re: looking to buy a rc51

All I can say is DO IT! I'm 5'8", and find it comfortable to ride, though as stated before, the bars are a tick low. I'm pretty sure the seat was designed by Robo-cop too, you've gotta have a hard ass to get away with riding it on long trips. Other than that I think it hides it weight well, and the power delivery of the twin is puuurfect.

Oh yeah, the power of the twin makes up for everything. I just got back from a 2 hour ride and no complaints. It's not cushy, but it's not a torture rack either. You'll love it.

The V-Twin Power God told me to tell you (because he speaks through me) that the 600rr God is a sissy and does nothing but whine at the weekly god meetings. He doesn't get invited out for beers afterwards.

Re: looking to buy a rc51

I invested in a set of Heli-bars on my RC and it now has a much more comfortable riding position, in fact its no more uncomfortable than my 2001 CBR 600 F4i was seating wise.

Re: looking to buy a rc51

well. ill put it like this...i just rode 500+ miler this weekend on my RC with the stock seat and stock clip-ons. and only after about 2hrs in the saddle with only one stop for fuel did my butt start to get sore. that was my only complaint. i rode about 185 miles of highway to a family reunion then on friday my brother-in-law and i rode about 75 to 100 miles in the country, and a little around town riding then yesterday i rode the hihgway back home again. other than a little saddle ass. it wasnt that bad. id do it again.

Re: looking to buy a rc51

Alot of "comfort" issues with the RC stem from people's body type. To be comfortable on an RC you need short legs and long arms.........lol. I took care of the long arms part with the Heli-bars. I bought the bike off a good buddy who's 6'1" and he didn't think the RC was uncomfortable at all.

Re: looking to buy a rc51

+1 i totally agree...
im 6' but i have a 31" inseam and 22" arms from pit to wrist. the RC fits me near perfect. at times i wish i had a little higher bars but ive found that if you scoot up to the tank a little closer and move your feet back on the pegs to get your legs up a bit higher into the tank, that it is much easier to get the wieght off your arms and makes it easier to use your stomach to keep your posture correct thus eliminating arm pump and hands that go numb. ive found myself "slumping" alot lately when i ride and i get tired faster and cant ride as fast, when i sit on the biek properly i can ride smoother, faster, and get less fatigued
