| SP1 / Akrapovic Road Legal Slip-Ons ? Hi there.
According to the Akrapovic website, they do not manufacture road-legal slip-on's (or any road-legal exhaust for that matter) for the SP1.
However, I've read elsewhere of folks mentioning they had road-legal Akrapovic slip-ons for their SP1, with a removable baffle.
Does this mean you can just take one of Akrapovic's "street legal" cans and fit it to your bike anyway, as long as you can get a link pipe which fits?
Thanks. |

| Re: SP1 / Akrapovic Road Legal Slip-Ons ? This is my 2002 - I'm sure they make 01 setups - Do you have to prove the cans are street legal? Let me see if I can find a link. I couldn't find my original paperwork on the legal part of the exhaust... |

What are they made from? It seems you can only get carbon fibre or titanium now.
Regarding "road-legal", in Europe (certainly in the UK) we have legal and illegal exhausts.
Illegal ones are stamped "not for road use", whereas legal ones have a "E" mark on them.
Perhaps in the States you don't have that distinction?
Did they come with a removable baffle? |

| Re: SP1 / Akrapovic Road Legal Slip-Ons ? OK - so you've got the "open" cans then, which makes sense according to the Akrapovic website.
Are you aware of "road-legal" Akrapovic slip-ons for the SP1/2 ? |

| Re: SP1 / Akrapovic Road Legal Slip-Ons ? Jeez, what with the Dollar to Pound as it is right now, that full race system comes in the same as slip-ons over here!
Do you have any tax on that? I guess once I add on shipping (if they even ship to the UK) it may not be quite such a good deal.
Why is stuff over here so bloody expensive! |

If you're going to get them, now is the time - The exchange to the dollar is in your favor... |

| Re: SP1 / Akrapovic Road Legal Slip-Ons ? Very true.
I've sent them an email to see if they can get hold of Akrapovic exhausts for the SP1, as they only seem to advertise for the SP2.
I don't think they're interchangeable (with the different swingarm on the SP2 the pipes probably route differently) but as Akrapovic do manufacture for the SP1 perhaps they will still be able to get hold of them.
Thanks for all your help! |

| Re: SP1 / Akrapovic Road Legal Slip-Ons ? Possibly a stupid question, but being a full race system, I guess if you needed to put your original Honda silencers back on it would be impossible, yes?
You'd need to remove all the pipework and put the old pipework back on.
Is this correct? Or do you think the Honda silencers would fit onto the Akrapovic pipework? |

| Re: SP1 / Akrapovic Road Legal Slip-Ons ? Everything goes on a full system - OEM pipes won't fit Akra pipes... slip-ons are the only interchangable - if you go full system you will need a controller too with the appropriate map. Quote:

I'm thinking of the situation here in the UK if I have a full system which is not road-legal.
If I couldn't quickly put the old silencers back on (which I did think was very unlikely!) then unfortunately I'm going to have to stick with slip-ons.
If I have to change everything back for an MOT or if I get pulled by the cops, it's just not worth it.
Simply changing the silencers though is a reasonable compromise.
Still works out over £300 cheaper getting slip-ons from the US, so I think that's what I'll be doing :-)
Cheers. |

| Re: SP1 / Akrapovic Road Legal Slip-Ons ? Well, I've just phoned Chaparral, and they say they cannot see any Akrapovic exhausts for RC51 models prior to 2002 from their reseller.
Was the SP1 actually released in the US?
Is there anywhere over there which sells Akrapovic slip-ons for the SP1?
Thanks! |

| Re: SP1 / Akrapovic Road Legal Slip-Ons ? You're a legend - thanks!
Sadly I've just spend £200 more than that and purchased them from Harris in the UK
Cool thing though is that they arrive today, and I'm not at work |
