15t sprocket choices.

Friends,

I am in the process of changin the front sprocket. I am looking to see wich brands are the best choice. I had heard AFAM makes a good product. Also the German brand that supplies aprilia and bmw. Are there any other brands to worth looking into?

Please advice,

George from Pasadena

Re: 15t sprocket choices.

I put a vortex on the front for mine, wouldnt want one for the rear but a friend had a vortex with 16k and no wear problems. seems like most problems are with the rear.(i got an afam and couldnt be happier)

I just order one from afam. I got the steel 530. I just going to keep it simple with the 40t in the back. Maybe I will upgrade to 41

I thank you all the friends for the info.

Re: 15t sprocket choices.

If you want to go up on the rear teeth for cheap, just get a stock rear sprocket off a 929, which is I believe a 43T. Thats what I did. In fact there is one on eBay right now, with the cush drive, for $9.99

15-43 will fit under a stock chain.

Not unless it is stretched to isht first. I put a 43 on mine, which was properly adjusted to the 3rd mark back on the swingarm, and it wouldnt even THINK of fitting.

Last night I installed an AFAM 15T up front in half an hour, and it was a snap. I returned the 43 to kneedraggers and am waiting for the 41 replacement. I think the 15/41 is the way to go. The 15/40 is slightly better than stock, but not monstrously noticable.

It is possible that mine is stretched.
