idle high at 1700

Friends,

I just installed in my 05 rc a set of banzai sato’s. I loaded to my pcIII a 2002+sato banzai mount slip-ons
satobanzai2.map. The thing is that I am experiencing an idle of about 1800. Is that normal? Please advice,

George from Pasadena,

Re: idle high at 1700

well you are now getting more airflow and producing power so it possibly could raise the rpms a bit, but 1700 is pretty high. If all your AFR's are right on you should be fine just twist the idle speed knob clockwise. question though do you have a PC with this?? That will help

Friend,

thanks for the info. I do have a power commander with a sato banzai map.

the manual actually recommends 1300-1400 but I keep mine around 1100 idle as well to conserve on gas and my butt getting hot

I suspect that if your map leans it out at idle that would raise the idle a little bit...

check the map to see what it does at 0% throtle betwen 1k-2k rpm...

Re: idle high at 1700

Could it be the choke? Sorry if i sound dumb, but has the choke fully kicked out? Mine revs below 2000 when the choke is on, and just over 1000 when its idling.

Just a thought, but does the bike rev higher through gears?
