What is a 2006 hold over worth..?

I have the chance to buy a new RC51 for $12,000.00 off the show room floor.
Do you think this is a good price..? It is black with the silver Honda wing on the side. I wish it were red and white.

Re: What is a 2006 hold over worth..?

I know that is higher than what they were selling for when they weren't a year out of date in Idaho. I looked at one brand new for around $11,500. I don't know what the actual MSRP is? A bike is worth whatever someone will pay. I think you get a much better value buying used, I know I did, but new sure feels good. If you have the money to pay $12K then it might not be a bad deal. If it means financing $12K then probably not.

Yeah, I figured that if they were saying $12K then retail must be $14-15K these days. I hadn't priced one for awhile. Left over 1KRR's were going for $9K around here. You should definitely be able to do better than $12K.

Maybe the dealer wants that much because the RC51 isn't being made any more? Is it?

06 was the last year....but plenty of dealers have them left over. Distance would be the only question

The 2006 was the last year for the RC-51... They are going for $9999.00 In Louisville, KY... 12,000 is a joke... sorry but it just is...

12000.00 for the RC51? When there are brand new CBR1000RRs available for that price?! I'm just curious why on earth would you want that heavy and slow V-Twin when you can have one of the sweetest bikes ever made?

I have both and to compare them is unfair to eithe bike. They are that different on how you ride them.

Awww come on..... Its a v-twin thing I'm sure. I rode an RC-51 for a bit. It was fun and you can toss it around, and sounded like a muscle car but when I went to ride the 2005 ZX6R after that it was a better bike in every way. MY 954 while not as nimble as the ZX6R is faster on the street.

I guess what it comes down to is what you want. Most of the RC-51 owners I know of wound up getting Ducs or Aprilias or wish they had one. I'm an Inline 4 rider not a V-Twin rider.

133 bhp at 10,000 rpm and 71 lb./ft. of torque at 8000 rpm far more power than any Ninja ZX6R... It is a V-Twin thing... The RC-51 is way better than any ZX6R... But I only ride honda's.. So I guess Im biased.. Anyways in KY there are some 06 RC-51's for under 10,000...

I dunno about 133hp. The SP2 is a fairly fun bike but its heavy and its slow IMHO compared to the I-4. I didnt mean to start a holy crusade, I just never understood why anyone would get a TLR 1000 when the GSXRs were a similar price and could do circles around them and the same for the RCs to CBRs. I just figure if you are getting the bike, get the lightest and fastest one. But hey, YMMV.

Myself personally...im about the bike not hp numbers. I love my rc...they way it handles, the way it looks, and man the sound...that sweet sweet sound. My rc has far more ability than i do so the hp and 1/4 times and all that has little importance to me.

new rc's-near here? like to know...maybe add to the stable. Do not like newer colors.

comparing RC's with the 1000RR-NO

With a ZX6-Hell F* No.

12K for a new RC-Hell F* No. It is not to the point of drawing premium over MSRP. Local dealer will sell me an 06 for 10K with tax and title.

I have a 06 rc I got in oregon for 11,000 out the door. Mine is serial #2 and collectors told me sport bikes unless it's a duke are just worth what there worth. I had a duke for a while and I would rather have the RC any day.

Re: What is a 2006 hold over worth..?

The RC is not as fast as a new litre bike but on the twisties will keep up with them all day. The RC is old tech anyway but I will tell you this, My buddy has a late modle GXR 1100 and I flat out walk away from him and I'm stock. I also have a budy with an 05 GXR 1000 and he gates me fairly hard but I can stay with him after that. PLUS every body fas in-line bikes. Its fun to ride something unique and at last check most of us just ride for fun.
