Now I can ride without pain, I will even be attending a track school this spring and maybe some track days if all goes well. |

| Re: Pics of my RC with Bar Riser kit Whylee, what sorta rise do you think you got out of the new setup? Did you reuse your original controls setup with the new bars? Was it hard to make that first cut on the upper fairing?
Nicely done BTW. |

Nicely done BTW. | I never actully measured the rise but I would guess in the 8 inch range, although you could add or subtract from that by changing bars.
All the stock controls were used. The only things that really need to be changed are the brake lines and clutch line. However the kit comes with both longer brake and clutch lines in braided steel.
Yes it was very tough to make that first cut into the fairing, but it had to be done. All in all it was well worth it (for me).
The ride is great now, I can now ride as long as I want with no pain in my back or wrist. |

| Re: Pics of my RC with Bar Riser kit So far it seems to handle great. I have not really got it out and pressed it hard yet because im going to take it easy until I get used to it. The biggest change is that you have to trim the upper fairing. It would be nice to have a spare upper fairing, someday ill find one. Other than that, the kit bolted on in about 2 hours, most of that was bleeding the brakes and clutch. |

| Re: Pics of my RC with Bar Riser kit Nice, but you're still a bastard for having a 950SM next to the RC. I'm guessing that like myself you prefer an upright riding position rather than the head down, arse up of a sportsbike.
How much did the kit cost? It looks like upper triple clamp, bars and hydraulic lines? Am I right? |

The kits are pricey at about $500.00, but you get everything needed. Upper clamp, brake lines, clutch lines, mirrors, bars and fairing stay. |

All the wiring has plenty of length. |

| Re: Pics of my RC with Bar Riser kit Wow! Quite a change from a stock RC! I've been looking at ways to improve the comfort on my RC, but I don't want to do anything that drastic yet!
So far it looks like Heli-bars are the only option for me |

| Re: Pics of my RC with Bar Riser kit Great as far as how you have done it, but why did you do it?? RC was never built to be a comfortable bike in the first place
I mean, its not only the height of the bars that represents a comfort problem, this bike has hard suspension (with options hard and harder ), then the seat is hard and the overall bike is kind of small, you dont have enough space on it to 'enjoy the ride' in terms of comfort...
Don't get me wrong, I just did 1500 miles in 5 days on it (highway free roads), even though I have a VFR800. I've mostly done it just to see how the bike feels when you're on the road for couple of days. I like the bike a lot and I dont plan to sell it ever, but its just not built with that kind of riding comfort in mind.
On the other hand, its a king when it comes down to cornering, regardless to the speed. It almost feels like it becomes 'stronger' in corners as you increase the speed. But, for that kind of riding, I think that raised bars are interfering with the overall position of the rider, because for the high speed riding you have to lay down under the visor and you have to keep your hands up because of the raised bars.. That doesn't feel comfortable to me |

| Re: Pics of my RC with Bar Riser kit Nice bike mate I wanted that black model but couldnt find one so went for the white one instead. Im going to fit carbonfibre bodywork and have the frame and swingarm powdercoated black then put the same stickers/decals on my bike as your bike has.
Personally I like the riding position of the SP2 so bar risers arent my kind of thing, but they do look nice! I actually fitted clipons to my old Ducati monster because I wanted a more racing position... but long distance sure did kill my back. |

| Re: Pics of my RC with Bar Riser kit I have a very bad lower back problem that has been getting worse. I was never planning on doing this, but it was either this or sell off the RC, and I just could not bring myself to sell her off, I really love the bike.
As far as suspension goes, I have full Ohlins front and rear, so its plenty adjustable enough for me. The seat is my next item, either a Corbin or Sergent is my next purchase. |

| Re: Pics of my RC with Bar Riser kit Where can I get a sargent seat in the UK for my SP2? I had one on my Ducati Monster and the quality is spot on!
I know what your saying mate... im only 25 but my back kills... im ex royal marine, signed up when I was 16 and it destroyed my back and shins. Generally im ok but running long distance kills my legs and I need a special matress to sleep on my back... strangely im ok on the Honda... but iv only been riding it for a month or so... but yeh I wouldnt wana sell my SP2.. if she starts lagging then I will give her a complete engine overhaul and clean her up real good.. and if my back goes.. I would probably fit risers aswell rather than change for another bike. |

| Re: Pics of my RC with Bar Riser kit My sergent seat should be here tomorrow, cant wait either. With the higher bars my skinny butt sits more squarely on the seat now and I really notice how hard it is. |

| Re: Pics of my RC with Bar Riser kit +1 with Pablo's post. It just looks wrong .. haha.
But, i hear you on the back pain, i broke my back and have paralysis in 92, and the SP is a hard bike on the body. But its still soemthing i grit my teeth and ride hard on.
Nicely done (bar risers) anyways. |
