| Buying NEW Question Hello all, this is my first post so I hope not to be redundant but tried reviewing the relevant threads thus far and am still left with one query which needs a bit of background info briefly to clarify my intent:
I'm a graduating medical student just 270 days away from my MD. I'm currently in Seattle but likely going back home to So. Cal. I've had a 86 Interceptor and a 99 F4 (in Cali) and my dream bike has been a rc51. (don't ride in SEattle cuz WAshington drivers suck but that's for another thread). I have told myself for 7 years that I would buy myself a brand new red one when I earn MD. Now I'm a bit bummed that Honda d/c'ed them after 2006 and that I read 2003 on there are no real changes except color schemes.
However, I want a brand new one to keep and baby forever and ever as my second wife! Anyone have advice about buying a new rc51 such as where to find them? I called a local Seattle dealer and they said they don't carry them any more and that many dealers may not have them as well. Please give me any input as it would be much appreciated and I can give you a free physical exam in return (minus the rectal of course). :-)
PS: It seems all the 2006's I find are black...do they not have the red color scheme that year? That's the scheme I'm looking for!

| Re: Buying NEW Question My dealership had one when I was in there a couple weeks ago. They also have brand new bikes from the 70s because they are always unwilling to negotiate on price. As a matter of fact, the bike I tried to buy a year ago from them is still sitting in there and my dad once bought a 10 year old brand new bike from them. So...since they have one I'd assume some other a-hole dealer does as well. If you want to consider coming all the way to NC for it, let me know and I will go over there and see how much and if they still have it. |

| Re: Buying NEW Question No dealers in California have new red rc51 (2004)..thus I'm left to scouring the used market. Apparently, due to California emissions, new bikes are not an option out of state as they need 7500 miles to enter the state. So cycletrader, recycler, and craigslist it is. Any other advice? |

I may end up having to do that if all else fails. In the meantime, I guess I'll just keep searching! |

In the meantime, I guess I'll just keep searching! | I've been toying with the idea of a '51 so have looked around, watched ebay, etc. It was always a little more of a "premium" bike so I found that there are a lot of really clean '51's out there. So unless you can find a dealer with a new one sitting around who is willing to give you an awesome deal it really might be worth it to pick up a used one that has already depreciated.
Are you graduating from UofW?
