| Re: New owner and I need help! Well I use the Motorex syn blend but when it comes to V-twins I am unsure about most of it. This is my first one. I have had plenty of the inline stuff. I've heard some say they run nothing but synthetic and stay away from the blended stuff? What is your opinion?
Better yet....what does honda recommend? |

| Re: New owner and I need help! thats one of those questions that you'll get 100's of "right" answers to! i know people that use rottela in there sv's and get ten of thousands of mile outta them. I'll step out and say that how often you change it and the filter will play a bigger role than brand, aslong as your using a "good" oil..... hows that for vague? |

| Re: New owner and I need help! there are quite a few things I have to do to this before I find out if I'll enjoy it. I'm disassembling the brakes to check everything out them gonna give them a proper bledding since the original didn't notice they needed some attention. The oil change, check the sprockets......then I need to start looking at mods!
What mods have you guys done? I've been reading about some mods like a pair mod, flapper mod and so on.......is there a place on this forum like a "how to" section for this stuff? |

| Re: New owner and I need help! Clean!
Seriously I run Motul 300V 4T 5W40 in mine that is a track bike. But you could use Honda oil or many others. The two things that matter more than all others though is 1) NO MOLY get oil for a wet clutch 2) CLEAN oil; change it regular
#1 will ruin a clutch and #2 adds wear to your engine.

It is directed right at RC51 owners. |

| Re: New owner and I need help! I took off the plastics today and wow!!!! The little screws that attach to the upper and the ones in the radiator cover absolutely suck!!!!! Cheap ass screws! Am I the only one with this problem?
Has anyone found a suitable alternative? I wonder if ACE hardware carries this type of screw.
Tomorrow I've gotta bleed the clutch. The previous owner really did not take care of this bike at all. It's ashame too.

Luckily they are still new enough to find any replacement parts you need. Not to mention there are still some aftermarket suppliers with some very nice and tasteful 'improvements'. as for the fairing screws, if you are interested in improving what you have you may think about dzus quick fasteners ( Southco - DZUS ) for the fairing IMHO.
Good luck! |

| Re: New owner and I need help! Does anyone have a link or source that will sell a hardware package to replace all the factory plastic hardware. Most of them were in bad shape due to the previous owner.....again. |
