| Re: plastics on ebay.... Yeah, I like those too. If you order the, let me know how it goes. Dont forget to include shipping in your costs. Another thought might be to order a set from a domestic vendor (sharkskins, Airtech, etc.) and do a "wrap" teatment on it similar to how you see car advertising wraps. just a thought! Best of luck! |

| Re: plastics on ebay.... There inexpensive, though shippings through the roof. still gotta paint your tank. front cowl has no tabs for the headlights. need to cut off stock and mount to new w/ epoxy or fiberglass. Quality??? OK. Needs pulling and bending to mount. Plus all decals are clear coated over, so if it aint on your bike your posin |

| Re: plastics on ebay.... Hang on. Hold your horses.
Dont be too quick to go spending big bucks over the internet to get fairings that you dont know will fit. Yeah they do look nice, and would suit your bike, but ive heard that some people have problems and some dont.
Read the feedback and the returns policy. Someone stated that the plastics were too short for the sides, there was gaps in places, the holes didnt line up and some other problems. Other stated how wonderful it fitted.
Just be careful |

Also note these are not plastics (preferably ABS) these is fibereglass which has its drawbacks (cracking paint) especially in non race oriented usage (higher quality for longer time). |

| Re: plastics on ebay.... Yes there is definitely a draw back on the shipping end. If you wanna return your stuck paying the $200 to return ship. I bought a set of plain fiberglass fairings from a place in Florida, thinking I would do my own color scheme and they were crap. Cost me $60 to return so I could get my $400 back. Better off finding oem on Ebay. can get better deals on scratched ones if your gonna paint them anyways. |

| Re: plastics on ebay.... Pay for Sharkskinz if you are looking for track body work. They will fit correctly AND hold up when crashed. A bit more price for a LOT less pain.

| Re: plastics on ebay.... i got the repsol plastics off ebay and to be totally honest i was quite surprised at the quality of paint and and craftsmanship. the graphics werent quite accurate but close enough. and yeah you pay 250ish for shipping but lets think about it for a minute, your getting a set of pre-painted plastics for about 750. you cant order sharkskinz for that. the only drawback is that like most aftermarket plastics, they are made of fiberglass. so if you drop it, you buy new plastics. no fixing it in most cases. which is why im ordering the minolta plastics. ive already done the repsols and im not much for the moviestars or the castrol plastics. |

... | Actually some companies do make them from ABS plastics (which is what the originals are made of).
here's a link: Testing NEW Version Auctmarts Body work - ***********
However I didn't find RC51 from Auctmarts. Maybe with enough demand...
A friend of mine ordered and installed these (1000RR) and they were almost outstanding in quality. |

As for the cost - it will probably be a bit more than half the price of the sharkskins.
remember - no tank cover for the RC.
Anyone wants to join in a group apply to the manufacturer to create a set for the RC?

| Re: plastics on ebay.... I checked out the eBay fairings by asking a couple of purchasers. They are ABS plastic and it was reported that they fit well. They do not come with any heat shielding, if you do not add heat shielding you will probably get a melt down around the headers. At under $700 including shipping they are a bargan compaired to factory panels. |

I'd say it's quite a drawback.
As for the heat shield - my friend did not install a heat shield however he did wraped his headers.
obviously it is highly related to the actual piping routing and proximity to the fairing. |

| Re: plastics on ebay.... Haven't been here for a while so, sorry for neglecting you guys.
As time passes the ABS finally gets to the RC as well for example here: link.
One more option are these - they claim to manufacture in the US and the ABS to originate from Japan
but comparing the colour scheme not sure how diffrent are they?
Did anyone had any expirience installing them on, purchasing from them etc. ?
Thanks,
Jonathan. |
