has anyone here raced a Ducati 749s? On the track preferrably. Or anywhere for that matter. I was curious to see if it was close or was it a total blowout!

Not competitively but I've run with 749's, 996's, 999's, and 1098's during trackdays and I've made my fair share of passes on most of them. It's all in rider skill, not the bike.

Exit speed on V-Twins, sad to say is greater because of the amount of torque they have. I have raced the Ducati's you stated above, and the one that I keep going back and forth like a cat-mouse race is the 1098. Even in the quarter, the 1098 with a decent launching rider can launch 2 bikes on you in the 60 foot. They are still beatable. IT IS ALL THE RIDER WHEN YOU GET INTO LITER CLASSES!

same track, different days, different riders on 1098s. the first time I could pass the guy with no problem, the second time the guy flew by me and I couldn't keep up although I wasn't falling behind by a lot.

its all about the rider. that second day I was also passed by this kid (maybe 15 years old) on a Supermoto, I think it was a 450. felt like I was parked when he came by. and that was in the beginner group at the Penguin school

Re: Has anyone here ever put your bike against..

I saw one at Road Atlanta and he killed my drive coming onto the straight so it was pretty much a drag race down the straight (with him launching first). He did OK at first but about 1/3 down I pulled him hard on my RC (a CBR1000RR got him first and pulled me about 5-6 lengths at the end)
