Potential newbie!

Hi folks, I'm thinking of getting a SP-2 and making it my track mule. I have asked at several other forums about this and got replies that basically say they're heavy, slow and unmanouverable.

Everyone I talk to says I should get a I-4 bike, but I just don't like the power delivery of I-4s for track use (too peaky). I currently ride a Ducati S4R on the track so I'm looking for similar ridability,

So what do you think folks, is the RC-51 outclassed as a track bike or does it run with the big dogs still?

Re: Potential newbie!

My SP2 outclassed an R1 so id say yeh they can outpace other 1000s hehe

SP2s are heavy.... but unmanouverable!?! Your joking right!?! Whoever told you that obviously doesnt have a clue! Thats what the SP2 is best at! VERY maneuverable!

I sold my 2001 Ducati Monster 750 and replaced it with my current 2004 Honda SP2.. in terms of rideability.. the SP2 is superior in EVERY aspect!! I would NEVER go back to a Ducati.

The SP2 may be a heavyier bike than some of the other bikes BUT don't let that fool you! Put some after market pipes on it and some carbonfibre bodywork or fiberglass bodywork, lose the headlight units (obviously you can only do that if you dont intend to ride it on the road EVER), and you can also replace the swingarm with a lightweight one. The amount of weight you would lose is very noticable!

Slow? Well my stock SP2 redlines at 265kmph
265 kph = 164.663366 mph

So I wouldn't say in its stock form its slow either... tuned? Well.. I spoke to TTS about putting forged pistons and a turbo kit into it... I was quoted around 400bhp and it would still be more than manageable in the corners. So it does have some nice potential...

maneuverable... well.. if Colin Edwards can win with the RC51/SP2 and ride it like this

im pretty sure its maneuverable enough for you.

If you lived near me id give you a shot of my SP2 to see what you think if you wanted... but im in Italy.. sorry.

iv just stuck some Pirellis on mine too
