Help needed SP1

As title says , need a bit of help . I had a quick look through the forum , have not found an answer yet , will continue searching .

Basically was heading over the hills , hot day (by Irish standards ) , my sp1 started running rough when I slowed down , could hear a knocking and the bike was vibratring badly . I knocked it off , let it cool down and headed off again , bike was running fine again till it heated up , then while accelerating uphill the bike seemed to be pulling back (see a few lads here were having similar problems) , when I got to the top of the hills and started heading down again , as soon as I pulled in the clutch the bike cut out (luckily at the top of the hill going down and not at the bottom going up lol ) . When I got to the bottom I let the bike cool down , tried starting it , it turned over but wouldn't fire up .

Got the bike over to the mechanic , he's looked over it and he says he cant get a spark , he's checked everything electrical , changed the plugs , changed the ecu/cdi , still no joy (bought the ecu out of a breaker , don't know anyone with an sp1 local to make sure the ecu is not dodgy) . He's already pulled his hair out and is threatening to burn the bike so your help is vital to save the life of my sp

Any help appreciated , thanks Jay

Oh yeah , hello everybody

Re: Help needed SP1

did you check cam pulse generator....? And also ignition pulse generator ? Cam pulse generator is located on rear cyl. head(you must remove body throtlle)....and ignition pulse generator is located inside left engine cover(flywheel ). Check this....

Re: Help needed SP1

did yo try to short check service connector with a jumper wire...and than count how many times the lamp FI blinks....Check all conectors and fuses WELL....each blink means that something is abnormal with pgm fi system... Or maybe you bought a bad ecm...

Also, look at the earth ground plug. Weird $h!* happens when that has an issue.

Re: Help needed SP1

Thanks lads , I'll pass it on . He was saying he's checked everything and it's working ok , the only thing he reckons it could be is the ecu which we've changed and it stil doesn't work , as I said , it could be a dodgy ecu I got , or he was saying a 'booster box' ? thats beside the ecu (I'm not the most tech minded person in the world lol) . I was just wondering if anyone had heard of similar problems before .

Re: Help needed SP1

i had a problem with one vfr 800...no ground for the relay which supplies fule pump. I got the brand new ecm..and still there was no sign...and then i tryed another ecm....borrowed from one simillar bike....and things worked !! Faulty ecm...TWO TIMES... . But...it is the rare case...And booster box....behind ecm.?? Never heared before..On my bike...behind ecm...there is absolutelly....nothing.... Only thing yo got behind ecm is converter unit. The best thing is...that someone had the same bike....and than you can work it...paralelly......That kind of problem is the worst you can get.....

Thats probably it alright , was only half listening when he was telling me
We're on the look out for someone local with an sp1 to try out the ecu but they are proving rarer than hens teeth , plenty of sp2's knocking about , the search will go on

Re: Help needed SP1

Couldn't tell ye about oil consumption , I done one trackday on the bike , changed the fluids , another trackday ,done 300 road miles and the bike packed in , I've barely consumed petrol . When I get it sorted I'll keep an eye on it and get back to you
