Michelin Power Race

Ok, got my first set of Michelin power Race's mounted and going to take them in for balancing tomorrow. Just wanted to know anyones experiences with these tires, good or bad. I am going to be running them on the street and going to them from the Pilot Power's. Also what is a good tire press. for them, pretty aggresive street riding. Any input would be great. Thanks in advance!

Power race is not designed for the street. No matter how hard you ride the street you will not get them up to proper operating temp to get their full potential. Actually you would have been better off staying with the Powers if grip is an issue.

Re: Michelin Power Race

if that is true then why would the michelin website market them as a street tire designed for occasional track use? just wondering.

Re: Michelin Power Race

I prefer Power Race way above pilot power. My previous pair was pilot power. I lost my RC's back numerous of times but with the Power Race it sticks! I have allot more confidence Power race. Just make sure the tires are hot before you push it into a corner.

Re: Michelin Power Race

I ran PP Race on my track bike. The recommended pressures were 26-27 psi for front and rear. But for the street, these pressures might be too low.

So you ran them on the street? Also, what pressures did you like?

When I ride alone. 2.7 bar back and 2.5 bar front.
I think it is 39 & 36 psi? 1 Bar = 14.5psi? Not sure

Re: Michelin Power Race

I love Powr Race for the track...they seem to begin working at air temps above 80 degrees....the 190/50 rear works well set up with after market link and Ohlins shock.
On the street, Power Race don't warm up enough to make me feel confident.
I prefer Pilot Powers on the street, in the wet, or at temps below 80 degrees.

Re: Michelin Power Race

I had a set of power races mediums on my 51 last time around. It handled well on the street after a little riding for some heat, but don't count on much mileage. I've noticed some different handling characteristics since changing to the pilot power and haven't been able to sort it out. Bottom line, I liked the power race but can't afford to change tires at such a short interval caused by the amount of miles that I commute.

Re: Michelin Power Race

Dito. Great track tire but you won't get enough heat into them on the street.
