power commander

hi you guys. im new here (well been a member for while just never got round to getting on)
I put a power commander on my 2000 sp1 in the summer and was wondering if it should make a noticeable difference or do i have something wrong, its standard except arrow titanium pipes.
It only seems smoother if i have it in mid or high range on the commander.

Also whats the flapper valve, where is it and what benefits would i get by removing it

Thanks

I think you'd see some noticeable difference with a full system and a good map, otherwise minimal. That was my experience but others could tell you more, stedo. Flapper valve is on your air intake but I'm not sure if your RC has one. Honda normally has it closed until WOT or above 6,000 rpm or something. Doesn't add much but gives you more intake sound.

Re: power commander

there are lots of good maps out there, but in reality, the bike really needs to be tuned on a dyno by someone with a little PC experience. If you're going to do the free mods, flapper valve and pair mod, do them before you dyno. It won't impact performance dramatically, but it will give you the best A/F ratio at all RPM and really imporve the rideablilty of the bike...especially at <3000RPM.

If you're still really rough at low RPM it just means that the tune isn't correct.
