hi does anyone know if ohlins forks make much difference over standard showa set up. cheers

if the difference is anything like the rear shock then yes its worth it.

i have an ohlins shock and ohlins fork springs but i want info on forks. ie are they worth the outlay etc

Yes the Ohlins is a big improvement over the stock suspension. You need to have them set up for your weight and style of riding just like any suspension.
But once its set up you will never want a bike without it.

Your stock forks have a very long top out spring and you loose 1" or more of fork travel with the bike just sitting still. I have Ohlis R&T forks and they have over 1" more travel than stock, gold nitrade (SP?) fork coating and a lot better quality parts and more adjustability.
