| 2008 CBR1000RR mirrors on RC51? I have a 2004 SP2/RC51 and I am thinking about sticking either the new CBR1000RR Fireblades mirrors (With integrated indicators) on my RC51, either that or the mirrors from the Ducati 1098 (also with integrated indicators).
I want to remove the indicators from the fairing, fill in the gap, and then repalace the stock mirrors with either the Ducati or the CBR1000RR's mirrors.
Is this possible? Would I have to buy any additional parts? I know when you change your indicators for LED indicators you need to buy another relay because LEDs flash faster than standard bulbs and so need a replacement relay to slow them down to legal speeds.
I don't know what sort of bulbs the Ducati 1098 or the Honda CBR1000RR uses (whether they are bulbs or LEDs) and so dont know if I would need a replacement relay. Does anyone know? Would I need extra parts? And more importantly would they actually fit on the RC51s fairing? Would the angle be ok?
Is anyone good at photoshop? Can anyone photoshop some Ducati mirrors onto my RC51 and also photoshop some Honda CBR1000RR mirrors onto my bike so I could see what they would look like?
Cheers peeps

| Re: 2008 CBR1000RR mirrors on RC51? For a lot of that to be answered you're going to have to wait for a few people to actually get their hands on an '08 and see how exactly they are wired in.

| Re: 2008 CBR1000RR mirrors on RC51? If i were you, I'd ditch the stock mirrors, throw on some block-off plates where they used to be, get a CRG bar-end mirror and some flush-mount flashers... less headache.... but of course this is just my opinion |

| Re: 2008 CBR1000RR mirrors on RC51? I think you should be able to do it with some minor drilling though. |

| Re: 2008 CBR1000RR mirrors on RC51? Would the angles be ok? I mean... u cant stick "Naked" mirrors on a sportsbike as the angle would be all wrong.. so would the angle be a bit off? And would the electrics be alright?
I actually prefer the Ducati 1098 mirrors... I was only thinking of the CBR1000RR's because its a Honda and so hopefully they SHOULD be interchangable without too much bother... that and Ducati's electrics are rubbish, I know iv owned one!! Thats why I got rid of it! |

The factory connections aren't going to match up even if you go with the Honda mirrors so either way you will be splicing wires. The one thing that will make the biggest difference will be how closely the shape of the base of the stalk matches the mounting point on your bike. If you really wanted to it right you could have a machine shop mill out some simple little adapters that match the mounting point on your bike on one side and match the base of the stalk on the other side. Some thin little billet units would probably look pretty good.

| Re: 2008 CBR1000RR mirrors on RC51? My bike doesn't have them either, the guy before me covered them but in New York you are required to have some kind of side blinkers. I have been looking for some kind of mirror to accommodate my situation and the nearest thing i have come up with are these Honda RC51 Mirrors |

| Re: 2008 CBR1000RR mirrors on RC51? I really like the signals in the mirrors, they're bigger adn higher, get you seen a little better. |
