| New owner, and have a "simple" question.. Ok i hope this doesn't sound too dumb of a question. But i just got a 2000 RC51 with the Yoshi high mount exhaust. Now my question is, can i put a set of rear foot pegs on it, as my girlfriend likes to ride with me. And also what is the best MOD for this bike? Oh and also will all years of RC51 undertails fit on this bike?
Thank you for your input! |

| Re: New owner, and have a "simple" question.. Not too familiar with the Rc51 but from what I have seen, i've never ran into anyone with a passangers seat at all on an rc51. |

| Re: New owner, and have a "simple" question.. In doing some searching and reading on the site here, it seems that most high mount setups are generally not for passenger pegs. That being said, I believe some adaptors may be able to be used to mount the pegs. I think your best bet would be getting a low mount exhaust and putting the stock passenger pegs back on there. My fiance rides with me a lot and I have the stock exhaust, it seems pretty easy for her and she does not get too many burns from riding through her pants. Just my .02 |

| Re: New owner, and have a "simple" question.. I agree with onealrc51. There might be some weird setup to put some pegs back on, but I think your best bet would be to put stock back on. Even if there were a way to mouny them it (in my opinion) would be way to uncomfortable for her to ride any length of time with her knees in her chest. Just my humble opinion.
If you want something different...do what I did. 2 into 1 pipe. Shorten the can.......WHAT A GREAT SOUND IT MAKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Slow is smooth.....Smooth is fast |

| Re: New owner, and have a "simple" question.. If you want to get another passenger on your RC51, you'll have to get low-mount pipes; the high mounts require removing the passenger pegs to tuck the cans under the tail. If you're thinking about low-mounts, why go stock when you can get really good aftermarkets (Jardines, Two Brothers, etc.) as slip-ons? I'm assuming you're running stock header pipes. Best bet: get your girl to get her own bike! Still trying that one on my wife...
Your aftermarket tail question is a good one. Not absolutely positive, but there are differences between RC51's starting after 2002. You'll have to check for compatibility with the tail section you want. Any reputable company or private seller would tell you if the part you want would work with the year model you have, but don't be afraid to do your own research if you're buying a used tail from a private seller. Got burned once myself, and I'd hate for you to go through that.
Good luck with all your options...when it's all said and done, ride it like you stole it! |

| Re: New owner, and have a "simple" question.. Sorry; forgot to address your "best mod" question. The best mod you can do is between your ears. Ride within your limits, learn something new that improves your riding skill every time you ride. Other than that, you can play with gearing, i.e. 15-41 tooth conversion, 520 pitch chain, blah, blah...just have fun riding; that's why you bought your bike in the first place! |

| Re: New owner, and have a "simple" question.. Thank you for all your replies. I am trying to keep the Yoshi on there as I like to looks and the sound of the bike. If i have to go back to stock... well i am sorry my girlfriend can suffer and she can ride her dirt bike when i am on my dirt bike. It was just to see if there is anything "special" out there that i didn't know about. As i have already been doing lots of research on the bike. I just rode it home last night and can tell it is going to be a blast to ride, especially over my ZX9R i just had!! I might just have to see if i can't make a custom foot rest if i really wanted to go that far.
Thanks again everyone. |

My suggestion....Get her a bike of her own so she can tell you how great your last corner was...
