Brake lights...

Anyone know where the relay is for lights from the front brake? My folks managed to drop my RC on the right side, now I've got no brake lights. Leave is coming up and I don't feel like getting a bench warrant for not showing up for my fixit ticket. Master cylinder maybe?

Re: Brake lights...

When it fell, did the lever get bent? When the brake lever is pulled in, it comes in contact with a small black plastic switch located on/near the throttle housing. The switch is small, just a plunger-looking thing that pushes in when the lever comes in contact with it. Might want to start there. Maybe that little plastic switch got broken.

Re: Brake lights...

Does the brake light work when using the rear brake? If so, you could use the rear brake with the front brake until you get it fixed. That way you wouldn't get a fix it ticket and you'd be creating better riding habits. I know I often use just the front brake, but it's better to add the rear brake. In addition to stopping quicker, the bike dives less which keeps the bike more level and less like a roller coaster.

Re: Brake lights...

Good call, HondaGal. Nailed it in one. Now, next question, where the heck can I get one of those? Have a service manual on pdf, lo and behold it's called the front brake light switch. Whodathunkit. Thanks for the riding tip Curt, but I have plenty of time to get the part in before I can lay hands on the bike, so I'll just fix it and use em both anyway!

Re: Brake lights...

I picked up a front brake switch last summer at my local honda dealer (it was an instock item) cost like $12.59. Really easy to switch out.
