| 530 Conversion for SP2 I'm looking to change my sprockets out on the RC from stock. I really don't want to deal with aluminum so any steel sprocket kits would be nice.
If anyone has a good resource to purchase a 530 with (-1,+2) please share. |

| Re: 530 Conversion for SP2 Are the 520 kits to small for the RC because of the torque I loved my 520 conversion on my 954 but the steel sproket is the way to go. |

If you're willing to consider aluminum on the rear, then I would go to Sum of All Parts and order a 530 conversion kit (Vortex sprockets with RK chain), the number of teeth you want, and specify the black hard anodized plus PTFE for the rear.
Pricing is good from these guys. |

Pricing is good from these guys. | Sum of all parts has good pricing for aluminum. I installed a 520 from them on my f4i. It was great for a a year and now it needs replacement. I'm hoping the steel will last longer. Motosport.com was very helpful. I got the full kit for $170.00. |

| Re: 530 Conversion for SP2 I put a 520 on my 954 with a aluminum sprocket and it lasted maybe 1000 miles I replaced it before it got to bad because chains are one thing I don't mest with.
I would go steel all the way the big bore bikes and v-twins are just to hard on the aluminum. |

I am just about to install a 520 conversion on my RRW (because chain and rear sprocket are very worn) and parts are already here. I hope it lasts longer for me than it did for you guys. As I am a conservative rider, I suppose I won't be putting the bits through the same rigors as you two might. But if they only last twice as long as for you, meaning 2000 miles or 2 years, I will still feel disappointed.
How religious are you about keeping chain cleaned and lubricated? Do you run a stock rear wheel. And what about alignment of front and rear sprockets? Inquiring minds want to know. |

I was pretty hard on the F4i's aluminum sprockets, i.e. down shifting, wheelies, etc. |

| Re: 530 Conversion for SP2 I lube and clean my chain every ride BUT I ride it very hard it only gets ridin in the twisties and I am very hard on it and I go into the turn very fast so a lot of down shifting and hard down shifting,
I do not do wheelies as it is a automatic inpound here in Cali now you can do dubble the speed and just get a ticket but is you do a controled slow wheelie they take you bike on the spot.
I will only put steel on the rear of my bike but if you don't ride it hard it may last a long time just keep an eye on it.

| Re: 530 Conversion for SP2 If you want a 520 kit the DID ERV3 chain and Stelth rear sprocket will last the longest and I cna match and sometimes beat any advertised prices on parts. |

| Re: 530 Conversion for SP2 ^^^ Scott is the guy to go with for best price/service for stuff for the RC-51 ! Aluminum seems to be fine for a track bike as you just don't put the miles on them (the Vortex sprockets still seem to wear really fast though). On the street, either run steel or plan on changing a rear every year if you do alot of riding. A great compromise would be Stealth Sprockets (I think), they have an aluminum body with a steel gear. Almost half the weight of solid steel, but the wear characteristics you want on the street. |
