Bank angle sensor for 2000 RC-51

The bank angle sensor on my fiance's '00 seems to be bad. If you start the bike on its sidestand to let it warm up, the bike turns off when you sit on it and straighten it up to start riding. If you turn off the ignition and turn it back on with the bike straight, it starts up immediately.

Does the bank angle sensors of any other models fit the 2000 RC-51? I don't see many sensors on eBay, but I saw one from a 2000 (I believe) 929. I did not dare buy it, though, because I don't know if it would work on the RC-51.

I will post up a WTB ad here to see if anyone has one, but if other models work, please let me know.

Thanks!

Ride Now Powersports
You can buy one factory new from them; look on the parts microfiche and order directly from them. They ship fast, and because you're in a different state than they are, you'll get a tax-free purchase.
Did you check to make sure it's the bank angle sensor? Take it off the mounting bracket, hold it vertically in your hand and start the bike. Tilt it in both directions; I think you have to tilt it greater than 55 degrees to have it kill the engine. If it kills it prematurely, or on one side only, it's probably bad. Otherwise, you may have to chase down an electrical gremlin...can't help you there.

Thanks for your help, and for your PM as well. I would really like to make sure it's the bank angle sensor. So, let me know where it is located. I checked the micro fiche, but could not figure out where it is. I have heard that on some Honda models, it's located near the head light, whereas other models have it on the frame near the gas tank.

Thanks!

If I'm not mistaking(as on my 01) it is mounted on the most forward part of the rear inner fender.

I think they might refer to it as a "kill sensor assembly." Check with the wiring harness diagram, last page on my catalogue.
