Whats the best Exhaust???

Just p/u a '02 RC51 last night. Currently it is all stock, besides integrated blinkers in the taillight, but am anxious to get some mods on it. I currently have a Scorpion on my other bike and love the sound. However, it's an in-line four. Wondering whats going to get the best increase in airflow and the best low rumble that a V-twin should have. Thanks for your input.

Re: Whats the best Exhaust???

Nice bike. I have a 2000 RC51 that i bought with 1000 miles on it. Now it has over 20k and i'm on my second set of Jardine RT1's. Not because of any problem with the slip ons but because the garage door rolled down and cracked the left (carbon fiber) muffler. Now with polished RT1's in aluminum i have not noticed any sound difference. And actually i have heard that the high mount pipes actually dyno less power than the low pipes. Also do you have a passenger ever? I have both set ups for mine but i usally run the low pipes. because the high pipes omit the passenger pegs. But the mufflers are just personal pref, i think. they are all expensive but there is only one i'd purchase the Jardines.

Re: Whats the best Exhaust???

Most people would steer you towards Sato slip on's. I think that they are pretty much proven to be the best. They are also very expensive and they do not offer a full system only the slip ons. Mirowaki also makes a very nice set (they are an affiliate of Sato) but they offer the rainbow or scorched titanium cans which look really nice. There really are a lot of choices. Go to ROGUE RC51 Owners Group of United Enthusiasts They have a very detailed write up on it.

Just for reference I have a full Hindle exhaust. It was actually one of the only full systems I could find available (very loud - the pipes actually throw a small flame out the back occassionally)

Anyway - good luck

Re: Whats the best Exhaust???

alot of people will say that the sato's are the best like slammp said. i personally love the sound of the dual jardine's on the rc's.. that or two bros.. you can't go wrong with either of them..

Re: Whats the best Exhaust???

I just purchased an 04 Nicky new out of the crate. Exhaust will be one of the first mods along with a sargent or corbin (prob sargent)
As far as exhaust I'm leaning toward Sato due to HP numbers. But really, how much more HP could the satos make over any other? I guess check rc51.org on that. The RC feels a lot weaker than the 954 I recently sold so any HP gain would be important. I know twins are just diff.
The Jardines are nice and sound nice and the bike already has a Jardine sticker. Hey that's a plus. LOL

Re: Whats the best Exhaust???

I haven't heard too many different pipes on RC51's before, but every time I fire up my RC51 SP2 with SATO slip ons, other riders go nuts for the low-end growl it makes. The extra 10hp might make a difference, but with the dyno and sprocket replacement for more torque, I haven't been thinking too much about that 10hp.

Here is a youtube video of some guy showing off his sato pipes on his rc51.

Re: Whats the best Exhaust???

All about the Sato Bonzai mounts...I have had the yoshi, stock, and now the sato. The sato by far are the best exhaust.

Re: Whats the best Exhaust???

Motophoria has some sato low mounts that produce the most hp 4sale...they used to be on my bike and we traded. You could end up with the best exhaust for a good price...

Re: Whats the best Exhaust???

I think it all comes down to personal preference and what you can afford to spend...
I've had a couple different set up's on my RC and to tell you the truth..they all sounded pretty close to the same. I'm running Arrow Titanium high mounts on mine now, used to run Two Bros. I've heard some local Sato's (very nice) and some Akro (equally as nice) The RC sounds great with just about any pipes on there, the roar of the V-Twin is incredible once you let her breath a bit. I say shop around...see what you like the look of, you could probably pick up a decent used system if you keep your eyes open!
Good luck with your hunt!!

Here's a couple pics of the Arrow's, I know these are not big HP makers but I liked the look..if I was really concerned about having that extra 1 or 2 hp I'd get my fat ass into the gym and drop 10lbs to make me faster!
Cheers.

I have sato bansai's and really like them. Is it me or is the left pipe on the bike in the video upside down.

Re: Whats the best Exhaust???

Hey, congrats on the purchase, I have an '04 RC51 Nicky ed. and it has the Erion Racing pipes on it in black with stainless tips. It sounds great, and looks not bad either. I have also heard the Sato's and they sounded quieter, good luck, either way you can't go wrong after all, you've got the RC...... Cheers, Scotty

Re: Whats the best Exhaust???

I had sato high mounts on mine because I never liked the look of the banzai mounts. They always look like they are squashed up against the tail. I had the same short can as the banzai and made more power. They only cost me $550 shipped on Ebay. The best of both worlds are the low mount pipes and the banzai length cans.
