| idle on 02 sp2 i just saw a question asked about an idle being set at 1200, i am trying to figure out what to set mine at. I replaced all the wiring on my 02, and when i turned it on the idle was much higher. I do have a power commander on it and dont know if that even has anything to do with it. Does it matter? What should the idle be at? I rode it for a while cruisin the park last night and it was actually overheating( the light came on and the temp was at 255) i have never had that problem. somebody help |

| Re: idle on 02 sp2 just re-adjust the idle with the fast idle adjuster and make sure to listen and see if your fans are turning on. |

| Re: idle on 02 sp2 If you read the owners manual, it states to bring the bike to operating temp. i took mine for a 3 mile ride, then adjust the idle to about 1200 t0 1300 rpm.
thats what i did to mine, Funny mine overheated once after that but i think that was just the so.cal. summer weather riding ortega hwy. |

You should be able to get it off of the left side right there neat the mag cover. It'll look like a lil star lookin thing. With a phillips head screw inside of it. turn it counter clockwise after warmup. Your fans should come on around 217 degrees if i remember right. |

| Re: idle on 02 sp2 You mean the tach. It should be very accurate as the ECU needs to know when to put power to the spark plugs. If it is off, it either will fail to ignite, ignite too soon or too late.

| Re: idle on 02 sp2 Check the fuse first, then check to make sure a small rock isn't keeping the fan from running. See if you can turn it by hand. |
