Need Help

I was riding home last night, stopped at the local bike shop to pick up a new helmet. Got back on my bike (2004 RC51 5000miles) fired her up and heard a clinking noise coming from the gearbox. I should have just pushed it back into the garage at the shop but I didnt. I started to drive home and noticed some black goop coming from sprocket area. It was not dripping, it was thick goopy substance which lead me to believe it was coming from the chain. Anyway the shifting was really choppy and she just felt sloppy and sluggish.......I guess is the best way to describe it.

Anyone have this problem?

Re: Need Help

First thing to do is drain the oil and look for anything odd, like metal shavings, anti-freeze etc. Do a real good inspection of the area where the goop is. Maybe a bad seal or some kind of damage around that drive sprocket. Good luck.
