why are eBay bidders so stupid.....

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ksid=p3907.m32
rather than:

eBay Motors: Honda RC51 Fuel Gas Tank Nicky Hayden NEW!! 04 (item 230250366799 end time Jun-05-08 15:32:33 PDT)

the guy buys a gas tank for a 2004 for $610 used but there is a brand new one from a dealer going for a buy it now price of $589??? Must be that the tank pad is worth all the extra he was willing to pay!

Re: why are eBay bidders so stupid.....

I have watched many pieces of plastic selling for more than I pay at the local Honda dealer...thought to buy some just to ebay...ebay...not always for the informed.

Re: why are eBay bidders so stupid.....

I sent en email to the buyer to show them they need to pay better attention to the auction going on. I don't like that the seller can hide the ID's of bidders. It makes it easier for them to hide a second or third ID to increase auction prices.

i agree with you on that one, i understand that they are trying to keep identety theft to a minimum but the hiding the names does allow for the bidding to be manipulated, but hey i was bidding on a intake snorkel for my rc and watched as it went about $45.00 ober a bran new one, if you are stupid enough to pay more for the same things you can get new for cheaper then you diserve it.

Re: why are eBay bidders so stupid.....

Forgive for my English! I wish to tell, that almost everything USA sellers and online shops refuse to send the goods worldwide! Buyers it is necessary to pay higher price!
Question: send me used headlights unit R and L for RC51 in Russia at the price of 100$ for pieces!? I am ready to pay PayPal and to compensate cost of transfer UPS!
Answer: sorry there is no it difficultly!

What is difficult? To carry headlights up to post office UPS and to write on a box the address!? It is difficult to lift up the ass from a bed!

Re: why are eBay bidders so stupid.....

They've got them for 572 here: Motorcycle Parts|ATV Parts|Honda|Kawasaki|Suzuki|Yamaha|Dealer|Tires|Re pair Manuals|Wholesale Discount Prices

But yes, I have seen more than a fair share of stupid prices on ebay, that's just it, people will spend what they think is reasonable, and if they are lazy, they will wind up paying more than they should have.

I've seen headlights go for the same. As a matter of fact, it was the same dude selling headlights.

Yeah, I've seen him posting tons of stuff at a time, most of it looks like total part-outs of bikes that have nothing wrong with them, or maybe blown motors, he posts up on speedzilla everytime he parts out a bike it seems.

The funny thing about the headlights, is that there were some that got listed right after, now there is a chance that he had more than one set, or that his friend wound up being the last bidder so he just re-listed them?

Re: why are eBay bidders so stupid.....

I will say this about the second tank, the new one. I will not buy anything from ebay if the seller can't show me a pic of the actual item. All this seller shows is a stock photo of an RC. I don't care what the feedback rating is, I won't give anyone my money without seeing the item. I realize anyone can put a picture on ebay of something they don't have. It is just one of my rules.

Re: why are eBay bidders so stupid.....

Every quarter Sun releases an updated version of Solaris. I always laugh because they will bid and compete and at times will get to $150 and then the seller wants $25 for shipping. Before the sellers started to hide the bidders ID's, I waited until it wa sover and said they could get it from Sun for $100 plus sales tax; including delivery. You would be shocked at trhe number of people that didn't know that Sun sold it.

That rule is easily beaten by just posting somebody else's pics. I think that's what you were trying to say in the last part.

At least when you buy something from the local dealer you have the chance to inspect it before you take it home, even if you already paid for it (as I am sure most dealers aren't going to have an RC tank in stock, and wont order it without money first)

Re: why are eBay bidders so stupid.....

My biggest problem with ordering parts through the dealership is that if something isn't quite right or working out the way you want it, a lot of times they won't let you return stuff. And the ones that do usually charge a pretty decent restocking fee. As crazy as it sounds, I try to stick with aftermarket parts that I can get through my work, since there's no restocking fee on returns, unless it's something I absolutely have to get OEM.

yeah I understand that, but I just don't feel comfortable buying something I can't look at. It makes me think they don't actually have the item, and they have to order it before they can ship it to me.

Re: why are eBay bidders so stupid.....

I'm sure there's a lot of shady sellers on at Ebay. Take this scenario. desperate Seller lists his product at an unreserved price of say $100 when the item is worth well over $1000, in the hope that a bidding frenzy will start. he finds that the best offer he got after a couple of days was say $120 from someone. in reality, the schmuck was hoping that he would get closer to $400. what does he do now? he quickly gets his friend to bid for the said item at say $300 just before closing time. sadly, no more bids come in. his plan has backfired and he keeps his item for auctioning at another time. Plausible?

Re: why are eBay bidders so stupid.....

well, there you go. don't say you were not warned. much of those outrageous bids are prolly all phonies at the end of the day. keep a close eye then, those items may appear again.
