| Installed undertail, here are a bunch of pics for you guys! Undertail: $150
Blood: Check
Sweat: Double Check
Tears: Almost
Final look: SICK!
Listen, this install was a PITA. The seller said "Yes it fit's '02's" well it didn't this is for an '00 and '01.
Since I'd already hacked up my factory undertail, I decided to hack up this one to make it work.
First of all, the instructions sucked, they were only worth the wire coding for hooking up the lights. Here is the link to the instructions: TAGMOUNTS
Second, I had to cut way more off the factory undertail than the picture originally showed (again, the pic must have been for the '00 and '01
, 'cause mine looked nothing like this one)
It took about 6 hours total (I did other things too, but 6 damn hours on this thing alone), I had to cut quite a bit off the new undertail to make it work, and the wiring was easy. The LED's are bright, and the center of the brake lights are optionally wired to light up amber with the turn signals. I opted for this option.
I am still trying to figure out where the license plate is going to go since if it is installed before the turn signals the signals become very hard to see. The further back the plate goes the more angled it must become in order to avoid rubbing on the tire.
Next thing up is these hideous front turn signals that need to go, getting some Watsens!
Enjoy the pics, the final result is a very good tight fitting undertail, it did change the shape of the top tail a bit so the seat cover doesn't fit as snug, but I can live with that... http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93/dviii/DSC01096.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93/dviii/DSC01098.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93/dviii/DSC01099.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93/dviii/DSC01100.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93/dviii/DSC01101.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93/dviii/DSC01103.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93/dviii/DSC01104.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93/dviii/DSC01106.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93/dviii/DSC01111.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93/dviii/DSC01113.jpg |

I'm about three blinks from replacing my stock underfender with something like that. Matter of fact, I seen one very similar to that one on ebay, but in black and without the seperate turn signals. I've been a little reluctant on spending money on an aftermarket undertail because I'm afraid of spending time and money and not being satisfied with the result. Yours looks really good and it might be worth the blood sweat and unmentionable tears.
Thanks for the confidence boost. |

| Re: Installed undertail, here are a bunch of pics for you guys! I just purchased one as well. I got mine off ebay for $112 shipped. Fitment was a little off but nothing like unexpected. I liked it a lot better then the stock garbage hanging down. The only thing I didn't like was the LEDs sucked..lol |

| For a temporary fix on the license plate thing: Just use either the chain guard or brake line bolts on the swing arm. It'll be pseudo-legal, and you'll have to figure out a way to light it at night, but it'll work. I've seen tons of guys in Washington running them like that.
Oh, and I'll give ya $1 for those front signals whenever you get rid of them. How are those mounted btw? |

That would be about cutting where the heat sink looking thing sits on the subframe. Nothing to it just time consuming for something that seems so simple..lol |

| Re: Installed undertail, here are a bunch of pics for you guys! Jkobflys, yes it is, and thanks. Can't take credit for that though, I didn't do the work. Tail is a solo tail '04 R-1. But since the wife'll wanna ride on back, I gotta switch back to two-seater. Gonna stick with the color scheme tho. Guess I need to get my hands on a factory undertail. Any ideas where I can find one? Still need a passenger pillion, since I keep getting swiped on ebay. |

RVT is like an american kind of RC51 and the VFR (i think) is the overseas like UK area. I'm not sure as to whats the difference with the RVT or VFR other then colors, may be other things but I couldn't tell you. |

A little correction. US RC51 = RVT1000R Everywhere else its refered to as the VTR1000R. SP1 or SP2 identifies the generation basically as N3D pointed out. The VFR is a completely different bike. |

Yes you will need to cut your under fender where the battery / Computer box is. I am not happy with the tail lights on them though as they are not bright at all. I am also going to be replacing my brake light switch with a pressure switch as the rear brake one is a little touchy. Good luck with it, the look is definitely better than stock though. |
