Fault code 12

My bike will not start and is throwing fault code 12 - bad connection or injector #1.

The fuel pump is NOT powering up at all. All power to the fuel system is completely dead. I think the fault code is being thrown as the ECM is not getting pressure indications at the injector because the fuel system is not pressured.

What would cause the electrical system to not allow the fuel pump to turn on to pressure up the fuel system?

1) Bank angle sensor? Is there a way of testing this item?
2) Fuel pump relay not working? testing procedure?
3) kick stand sensor? testing procedure?

Is there anything else I'm missing that would not allow the electrical system to power the fuel pump? Bad ECM?

Thanks for any helpful advice.

Re: Fault code 12

the way I would approach it is the ECU is sensing something bad about that injector or it's connection. Maybe just some corrosion and high resistance.

So it's not going to turn the fuel pump on and pressurize a bad injector as a protective feature.

I would pull your fairings and trace down that #1 injector circuit, check the connections for corrosion, wires with bad connection on the backside of the connector.

Also if you can get the resistance values of the 2 injectors and check the resistance of the 2 and compare them, see if the #1 is reading high. Possible you could have a bad injector.

I will see if I can find those values in the manual I have

Re: Fault code 12

page 5-2 of the manual says "fuel injector resistance at 86f is 11.1 - 12.3 ohms"

the manual does say that a faulty injector or connection will prevent the fuel pump relay from operating
