RC51 - - no fuel injection?

Hey everyone -- been browsing the forums for a few months, but first time posting.
Hopefully this is a simple and inexpensive problem to fix. . and I appreciate the time anyone takes to check it out.

I took apart my bike last week, got everything cleaned out, installed new undertail LEDs, and put everything back together. The next time I turned on my bike, I turned to kill switch to on .. and my fuel pump/injectors never fired up . . no "bshhhhhhhhht" sound at all. . . just a click noise from one of the two relays in the trunk. I repeated the ignition process, and same story (and the bike turns over fine, all the lights are good, just no starting .. because of the fuel problem). I didn't mess with any wiring at all except the disconnect all my negative leads on the battery before messing with the tail lights. They are all reconnected now - - -

Any Ideas?! This one has me stumped, my neighbor said he thought it was the brain. . which it may be, but I would like to be fairly sure before I drop 1-2 hundred on a replacement! Electrical isn't my strong point =\

Any help or ideas appreciated

Woody

Re: RC51 - - no fuel injection?

Woody. You say you installed an undertail kit? Did you happen to tamper with the bank angle sensor that mounts to the oem undertail? I many caes, the undertail will need to be removed and modified to install an aftermarket unit. In the event you did dismount or remove the bank angle sensor, it might be the culprit. I once had a problem with fuel pump not "priming" and it was just the bank angle sensor. This sensor is responsible for killing the bike in the event it gets laid down while running.
Thats one probable idea to eliminate
Good luck

Re: RC51 - - no fuel injection?

Just re-read your post. You just installed new leds, not an undertail.

Well, if you had your tank off, then chances are you had to unplug your fuel pump. As much of a pain as it is, I'd pull it again and check the connections as well as any related fuses. Not trying to be mister obvious but its easy to discount the obvious when it seems the problem is to big to fix easy.

Well, there is a chance I bumped it. . .and I did have the tank off, like you said it would be stupid if I did accidentally undo something there -- worth a check though! Be back in 15

Re: RC51 - - no fuel injection?

Chum, problem fixed. . . thanks a lot for taking the time to help - - turned out a connection got pulled apart under the gas tank at some point . . probably when I lifted it up! Funny how often it is the simple and obvious

Thanks again,

Woody
