Overheating??

My '02 RC keeps on over heating and the fans won't kick on. It isn't until I shut the bike off and turn it back on then they come on until I turn the bike back off. My other bike, the fans stay on until it is cool even if the switch is off. Anyone have a good fix for this?

Re: Overheating??

Not sure on them not coming on but the fans on an RC do not run if the key is off.

Re: Overheating??

your temp source is a sender unit thats down where your thermostat is. The ECU takes that input and turns the fans on/off by means of the relay under your right rear seat cowl. Since they come on, it isnt the relay - the temp sender is cheaper to replace than the ECU. BEtter start there first. Check for loose wires too.

Re: Overheating??

has anyone ever tried wiring in their own tstat/relay adjustable fan control and removing the sender unit completely? could adjust it to come on and off anywhere for about $100 or less
