Has any one just reupholstered their seat?
And added some extra padding or foam to it instead of spending $300 on a corbin?
I contacted an upholstery place and was told they could do it no problem for a price significantly less than the cost of a new seat.

Re: Has any one just reupholstered their seat?
Interesting idea...fairly new to the RCs, and can't say I've heard of it being done. I'll keep an eye on this thread incase you go through with it! My seat kills me on a 2-3hr. + ride

Re: Has any one just reupholstered their seat?
A guy I work with recommended this to me to do, I just haven't stopped by a place to see what they can do.
What I really can't figure out though is what makes the seat uncomfortable. Is it too wide, too narrow or just not enough foam, it almost feels too wide with not enough foam
I have never experienced a seat this uncomfortable on a bike ever. It's weird when you first get on it, it feels great, but about 45minutes later I start to squirm around then about 1 hour to 1.5 hours I start to feel the pain.
It's like having a really bad sun burn on your ass then having to sit on sand, it just takes away from how great the RC51 is.

Re: Has any one just reupholstered their seat?
i put memory foam in my seat, then recovered it with fabric from a store i found. i've never done anything like it, but figured a worse case scenario would be that i buy another seat online for cheap, so i went for it. i was done in an hour with no problem at all, and it's noticeably better. it's still an RC51, but a vast improvement in comfort.
all you need is a pillow, a sharpie, an x-acto knife and a staple gun. it's not difficult at all, i promise!

Re: Has any one just reupholstered their seat?
I took it to the guy over the weekend and he's going to add memory foam to it and reupholster it with new leather all for $80 bucks. I think im gonna do it sometime this week.

80 bucks sounds good to me compared to 200 or more

Re: Has any one just reupholstered their seat?
Yep, buddy of mine did his seat with that tempurpedic mattress foam, and just restapled the seat cover back on, with his 05 CBR600RR. Made a HUGE difference.
On the other hand, everyone says the seat on my 954 is like a board to them, but I don't think so. Never had that whole "stiff-seat" problem...

Re: Has any one just reupholstered their seat?
i've felt uncomfortable in the saddle of ever honda i've been on, but everybody has different ergos, so what can you do?
personally, i say it's not worth $80 to have somebody else do it. it's not an issue at all. go at it yourself!

It may not be an issue for you cause you probably got a fat ass. i dont so it is an issue for me and from what i've read its an issue for alot of other people rolling the 51. My seat is ripped so it needs reupholstered anyways and I just figured what the hay why not throw some extra padding in there. Don't come on here and say "its not an issue at all" when you dont know how my ass feels after a day of riding.
