| Problem with turn signals Apologies in advance for the essay below - but any suggestions would be gratefully received!
Removed the home-made fibreglass undertail from my RC51 ready to install the shiny new black hotbodies version..... that's when i realised what a mess the bikes electrics were - cut wires everywhere, ecu flapping in the breeze, and the real beauty - wires running from the back of the bike to the front of the bike, twitched onto various parts of the original loom.
SO.... after about four hours of tracing and rewiring, i've discovered that the front-to-back wires are for the rear turn signals. Whoever installed the old undertail has cut the +ve wires to the turn signals that emerge from the main wiring loom, and replaced them with a feed from the +ve wire on the front signals (hence the front to back wires running separate from everything else).
I have installed the new undertail and lights, and set the wiring back to how it should be. Two problems I now have - using the orignal +ve wire makes the right turn signal very faint. The left is fine, but the right is almost invisible. (it's not the leds - if I swap the left and right wires, the leds are fine). Does anyone know why this is, and if it's a fault or just what happens when you fit leds? If i go back to the front/back wiring the last guy rigged up, it works perfectly (apart from the next issue below).
Second problem - i've also installed a flasher rate adjuster to make the led turn signals work properly, but if I connect it all four (front and rear) turn signals flash at once regardless of which turn signal is engaged. Again, is there something I'm missing, or is this just a result of the front-back rewiring thing?
Thanks in advance for reading this epic... |
