| rear wiring harness question okay, as you all might remember i am still in search of some parts due to the burning of my 02 rc. there is a harness for sale on ebay but am really afraid to buy. I just dont know how to ask the seller to where they know what the hell im talking about. they state it will fit an 01 and 02 rc, i have been through this before and they assured me there wouldnt be a problem. well they had no idea the 01 harness would not turn on the fans to the radiators(no connection for them). yeah everything else was good to go, but my fans never turned on due to that. what is an easy way to ask and what should i ask them to look for in the rear harness to see if that particular harness will turn on my fans. Please help |

| Re: rear wiring harness question Jrivas, this might be a BIG help to you in restoring your '02. I got this info from my local Honda dealer parts guy. Their website address is Wisconsin Honda Yamaha Motorcycle ATV Dealer - Don And Roy's Motorsports - Kawasaki Polaris Sea-Doo Ski-Doo Scooter Snowmobile Watercraft Generator Parts Accessories On the home page click on Replacement Parts Finder, fill in the info in the boxes on the screen, this will give you access to the parts fische pages. Now you'll be able to compare the part numbers from the '01RC51 to the '02RC51. If the part numbers match, the parts will work on either bike,if the numbers don't match, they won't. The prices listed on the parts fische aren't current, just so you know. Ask the guy on Ebay if the part number on his harness matches the part number you just looked up for your '02,simple as that. Good Luck on your rebuild. Hope this helps you. Remember, you're not braking til your rear wheel's lifting, until then you're just slowing down. |

And it would be more like $9000. To some that may be high, but thats what I would have to have to let it go. Besides, shes only got 1100 miles on her. |

| Re: rear wiring harness question Try using MRCycles.com
When you select the model and year, it will only show the parts for that year and filter out all the unnecessary parts.
You can also print out the parts list for reference and notes.
Came in real handy during my restoration.
They are also cheaper than the others. Particularly bodywork.
As you probably know, the rear harness is different between SP1 and SP2 as they relocated the ECU from the rear to next to the battery.
The harnesses have a part number on them as well to help, although the numbers are not exactly like the replacement number.
I had to replace my front sub-harness and rear harness due to the bozo that butchered them wiring his undertail and front signals. |
